I just put a fresh hydro in my 52 Pontiac, it shifts 1st, 2nd, and then into 4th gear. It will down shift to 3rd for passing and back to 4th. The person who rebuilt it won't be back till next week, and i want to drive it 0n a 300 mile trip this weekend. Will it damage the trans too drive it the way it is till he can make the adjustments?
Under light throttle openings they will start in 2nd making you think no 3rd. Try taking off with 3/4 or so throttle and see what happens.
