I'm about to put hydraulic brakes on my newly acquired 36 ford sedan. I would like to run the wide 5 rims, are there any issues I need to consider or am I better off using 5x5.5. What is the best hydraulic set up to use, can I use my 36 peddles? Mark
To the best of my knowledge: '37-'48 spindles '39-'48 backing plates and '37-'39 drums. And that should take care of the front. I think the rear is also a simple brake swap but I haven't dealt with a banjo.
And you can keep your existing spindles and rear drums to boot! The Early V8 garage makes bolt-on conversions for all Ford mechanical brake pedal setups to hydraulic, as well as everything else if you want a kit rather than doing it all; find him as "Richard (EV8G)" on the Fordbarn.
