This little tech tidbit is for using a hydraulic set up under the floor. Once again my 40 is the focus but should be able to be used on others using stock pedals under the floor. I was playing with the idea of using mechanical linkage or a cable pull. After laying all the parts out in front of me I realized it would be more trouble than its worth. The easiest way seemed to be go hydraulic. There are still some issues to get around using this setup. At first I decided to use the Chevy clutch fork with a slave cylinder, and quickly realized that there wasnt enough clearance between the clutch fork and brake pedal and they would clash....not a good thing when trying to stop at a light. So a hydraulic throwout was put into service. This is a Howe piece part #HRE-82870 and uses a 3/4" bore master cylinder. ***dragger came over and we came up with a simple flat bracket that was fabbed and bolted to the brake master mounting flange. It was a pretty solid piece by itself. I then added an arm to the clutch pedal to actuate the push rod. The way it is now the clutch and brake have the same amount of travel and the pedals are even. I later went went back and fabbed up a gusset plate and welded it to the original plate making it a very stout piece and the nice thing is everything can be removed as one unit. This is the original bracket which would have worked fine but seemed to have an unfinished look about it. Heres the finshed product with the gusset plate and mounted to the x member.
Is the master higher than the slave to aid bleeding? Looks like it might be low which means pressure bleed and don't let it get low on fluid. Panhead
