I was making an anti-Ford joke. Therefore, installing a Chevy engine in a Ford automobile would be known as an "upgrade".
I know ppl wouldent agree with me but to me thats a big down grade if ford wanted chevy motors in it dont u think they would of came out that way
We're seriously going to have this argument again? (not me and you specifically, but Ford vs Chevy in general). It's a pointless debate, and one which has been had on this forum I'd wager near a thousand times already. I like Chevrolet engines, you like Ford engines, let's just leave it at that. Lighten up Francis.
just one tale from past experience......about 1967 I was working for a Ford dealer, the shop manager was road testing an F600 cab/chassis on a rainy day and spun out and rolled it into a ditch. I was running the wrecker that day, went out and retrieved the truck. Brought it to the dealership, unhooked it from the wrecker and attempted to START it. It went "UNNHH" and about a 1/4 or 1/2 turn and wouldn't turn over further. Bottom line.......a very bent rod..........oil had drained into a cylinder (s) while upside down. Brand new truck, cab trashed, engine trashed..........the torque of a starter motor on a flywheel gear is enormous............
check the oil for water, pull the plugs and spin the motor over, it will shoot out any water you have, wd-40, re-install plugs and fire it up. I have submarined many jeeps and many times sucked in water. Purged the motor and go play some more.
CHANGE YOUR OIL...!!!!!!! This same thing happened to me at the Symco Shakedown a couple months back. It rained like a bitch and a ton of water went down the carb and into the cylinders. Mine didn't start though, just turned half a rev and locked. I pulled the plugs and rotated it to blow the water out and got it running. Drove it home (200 miles) and back to Fond du Lac (300 miles) a few days later.... without being smart enough to change the oil. Four spun bearings, but the ol' 350 kept on runnin'. Long story short... I now have a different engine in my car. ...and I'm making an air cleaner that'll keep the water out. You could easily have bent a rod, or broke some compression rings. Either that, or if it had water in any of the cylinders, and it actually started, you might have popped a head gasket and pushed it out. Which may have thrown more antifreeze into the cylinders or oil. ...and if you can't turn it over, it's done. Best of luck... and let us know the outcome. JOE
______________________________________________________________ Yes, it is possible you bent a rod or 2, more likely because it was running. I seriously doubt you could bend a rod by trying to turn the motor over with a breaker bar. Clean it out, fresh plugs and see what happens. You might get lucky.....if not you have a bunch of checking to do.......... good luck
________________________________________________________________ I can remember back far enough, when that arguement was what life was all about. Brand loyalty, many heated disciussions and once in a blue moon someone would get out of hand. I could usually settle any debate right there and then on the street. Ahhhhhhh the good old days.........
