Weather was nice last night so I thought I would take a drive and listen to the new Setzer CD. Never saw it coming. Hit in the rear at the stoplight by some drunk old bitch. She never hit the brakes so I have no idea how fast she was going. I never busted a window with my head before. I ended up on the other end of the intersection. Check out the frame on the truck in truck2.jpg. More details later I'm gonna take one of these pills they gave me and lay on the couch.

It looks like you came out better than she in the long run.
Even if you need to replace the frame. That's doable.
That's why I like driving my '54 to work.

"Awwww, not to worry, it was just an old truk!!! No great loss!"

DO NOT let the insurance company scam you with this line...and make sure you take her for everything she's got...especially if she was drunk...don't need drunks on the roads.

Hope you weren't hurt too bad...but those rear end collisions are sure hard on the neck and back, understand?

Holy crap ! She must've been going at a pretty good clip to get that Korean beer can under your truck.

That's a real kick in the nads!! At the very least be glad she rearended you and didn't T-Bone the driver side. From the looks of it you'd be in a much bigger world of hurt.

Please tell us she has insurance and you'll have half a chance of getting some cash to fix it or get a new ride.

That definitely sucks big time! Glad you're OK enough to tell the story. Put my head through a windshield once and busted up the windshield another time, neither my fault. Know how you feel, so take good care of yourself.

I'd say the Hyundai lost, though a Hyundai is not much of a loss and I hate to see the damage to the Apache. Hope the ol' bag had insurance. Knowing car guys, I'll bet your first thought after the shock wore off was 'Hope my ride is not too fucked up'!

Bro, I'm a law student. Trust me, your neck is KILLING you. Go see a doctor if you haven't already, even if you feel fine. If the insurance bangs you, take her to court. If she was drunk, any judge will side with you. Remember, you weren't at fault, and now the ball is in you court. It's either your way the easy way, or your way the hard way. Glad you'e ok, and the truck isn't a total write off

holy crap. She must have been half way under you at one point..nuts.

Definately see a dr. The pain will get worse over the next few days.

I'm sure if you busted the windshield with your head you've already done this.

Get a real world value on that truck not some crappy insurance companies idea of what it's worth. When it's a drunk driver type of deal you usually get very well taken care of.

Good luck and have fun spending her money.

Man, that blows. At least you inflicted much more damage then she did.

Pictures like that make me ask myself why I am building a little roadster?

It's gotta be something with hyundai's. Some stupid bitch hit me in my old lady's civic(yes I was driving a civic). She crossed the double yellow line before she even made it to the intersection that I just crossed through. People are fuckin' idiots!!!

That sucks, but you're still alive.
Be glad she wasn't driving a Navigator!

If ya can't straighten or find another frame, PM me. I've got a '58 long WB leaning up against the side of the house. (and no, it's not holding it up or part of the house.)

They don't have to "scam" with that line. The insurance industry isn't stupid in any way, shape, or form. They may not make sense, but they're not stupid. As far as your personal health is concerned, they'll make sure and take care of you right away as long as they know it's totally her fault (if your tail/brake lights were not working and they can prove it, you'll have some trouble). Your truck, though, is a different story. If you have a "stated value" policy, you will ultimately get every penny the collision portion covers and your company will then go after them for the money. If, like many people, you have an ordinary policy, regardless of the limits it carries, the companies will only pay what "they" feel the truck was worth. Be prepared to dispute a sub-par offer. Since you do have obvious physical injury, don't be the tough guy and shrug off a little head/neck ache.

  21. Looks like American iron prevails (to you guys in Council Bluffs, that means it comes out on top)

Your gonna be much more sore in the days to come.

Take care of yourself and good luck.

  22. That was a pretty major hit! Certainly the Apache won, but it still is messed up pretty bad. Make sure that you take care of your medical needs. The drunk woman probably had barely a scratch, seems that is always the case.

On two things trust me: Your neck is going to hurt off & on for the rest of your life; the insurance co. will try to screw you on both the medical & value of the truck. No amount of money is worth the future pain - get all you can. Continue to see doctors (yes more than 1) & document everything about your injury. Also hire a lawyer right now!
Get full value of the truck by finding a replacement in the same condition; document every ad you can find in your area, Hemmings, & any other same or similiar truck. If you can't find one, get repair estimates from all the top shops in your area.
    Good luck,

Why do they call it reckless driving if it causes wrecks?

I'm pretty sure leaf springs arn't supposed to bend that way. Good thing you were in a real truck. Rebuild that thing and put it back on the road, after you take care of yourself. Good luck

Holy crap! Wow you are SO lucky you were driving that truck! Otherwise she wouldn't have gone under you, she might have gone straight into or worse yet, over!

Get better and handle business..............but stand your ground! I didn't when a drunk t-boned my 67 Mustang. He was drunk, he went to jail. But I lost out and only got 500 bones. Don't let them push you around!

  30. Dude... I'm sorry, but that just ain't funny.

ONEFISH- I feel for you, man. I've been hit that hard, and it can fuck you for life. Sometimes pain doesn't show on an X-ray, either.
My best to you, in that regard, as well as for the damage to your ride.
