Well I sold my 50 Chevy pick up and started playing with VW's. Thankfully I came to my senses . Got a new project its 49 Tudor I grew up with this car and finally got a chance to buy it. Its in pieces me ,my best friend and his dad took it apart 20 plus years ago and it has sat since.

The flat head is gone so I need a new motor I know a 289 five bolt will mate to the three on the tree are there any other motors that will bolt to the trans.

Also I know you use areo star spring in the front to lower it how to you drop the rear.

Another option I was throwing around is the 302/c4 swap . who do y'all use for the drive shaft or dose everyone have them made.

Also has any one ever tried to put a 5.3 in one reason I ask is one of our work vans got retired so I have a running 5.3 set up laying around. I am sure y'all are gonna fry me for that question lol.

That's a coupe, and you're a lucky guy. How 'bout something older underneath - we don't speak much metric here ...

    Very Nice.....

  6. As far as C-4 hook up no problem. 51 was the first of Automatics. All you need is the mast jacket off the steering column. My 51 stock unit is hooked to a 700 R-4 but you'd never know by looking at it. You could do the same thing with a Ford A.O.D.

Yeah, that's a Coupe! And it's got a pair of flared Foxcraft skirts, too.
Engines that bolt up to the little Ford 3 speed:
    221 Ford V8 (5 bolt block) *
    260 Ford V8 (5 bolt block) *
289 Ford V8 (6 bolt block) * All these have bells that bolt to the small pattern '49 trans.
Be advised that any of these engines will have to be fitted with rear sump pan and oil pump pickup from a Bronco.

Small block Chevy is easier, just drops in, no interference from steering/oil pan. Easiest way is to use the Chevy full synchro 3 speed, which can be shifted with your column shift linkage.
Rams horn exhaust manifolds fit also, driver side may require the swept back casting for steering box clearance...
Chassis Engineering has a mount kit that's a snap.
Good luck. Lots of info available for this one...

Lowering blocks will take care of the rear, available in 1, 2, or 3 inch, 4 would be too much.

Good eye on the fender skirts . It also has lake pipes that are sitting inside the car at the moment. The guy who they got it from built it in the mid 80s, was a really nice car at one point. So a 6 bolt 289 will bolt to the three speed. Any year I should keep my eye out for?
