So the 6cyl is out. It needs bearings. both main and rod. Nothing is destroyed, the crank has some minor scratches, but nothing that would stop me from throwing some bearings in and driving it... but the bearings are expensive and I don't really want to dump $250 into an engine I don't even want.

Unless the 327 sits halfway in the front floorboard, that pan doesn't look like it would work. The steering link goes right at the back of the block, nestled up between the flywheel and the pan, basically right under the rear main cap.

I need a pan that looks like this...unfortunately this is an Abody mopar pan

  5. I dont think the chevy front sump pan will help any -instead it will hit 51 stock crossmember and not allow engine to set low enough to work.

A friend knothed his stock crossmember and re boxed it for a stock 302 Ford to fit...its real close and had to massage rear corner at pass side where exhaust manifold and firewall touched/and swap drivers side manifold to another to clear steering......good luck....

Well here's what the bearing looked like in the 6cyl. And here it is waiting for a 327.

    Those ain't that bad... ;)
Just put all the unworn bottom halves on top and match that worn-to-copper one with the one that's worn the least and put them together on the "fattest" rod journal and put er back together!

Forget about having to keep the bearing shells paired.
    This is Jalopy mechanics!

Plastiguage the two really worn to copper ones to see if and how much of a shim to plant underneath them, but probably won't need it.
Then run straight 40 weight oil,not multigrade. THen drive it till it says uncle and put the CHevy in then, or in 2010 which ever comes first...
