Hot Rods I am so damned impossibly stupid it's embarrassing. A major mod on my 34 I never realized it has.

I own the former '34 3 window Ford, The Northern Star. One of the custom features done to it at the time of "hot rodding", way back in the mid '50's was to radius the corners on the deck lid. The son of the the builder while at the Good Guys here in July expressed that in addition to his love of that, he is also was infatuated with the radius done to the rear corner of the doors at the same time.
Some how in my adult stuper, that BTW, I manage to spend 90 % of my time in, I never noticed that the factory squared these at the corners. In fact I had to go find some 34's on display to believe him as he tagged along and and got a good laugh at my naïve ignorance. Now I've had this little jewel since 1995, have worked with it extensively and not realized this. Embarrassing to say the least.:rolleyes:o_O
They say confession is good for he soul, maybe now since posting this for the world to know how stupid I can be, I can once again emerge from the dark ignorance, out into the world of rodding enlightenment.

The doctor is in. Maybe, in the recesses of your subconscious, you took it for granted that radiused corners were the way they always should have been and it never occurred to you that Henry's designers could have made a mistake. That will be $10 with the HAMB rate for the psychology session, payable in pesos, yen or American dollars.
    The doctor is out. ;)

I believe it’s called education, some make use of it, others don’t. You now have one more tidbit of info to store in your memory banks, Bravo!

What I've never understood is how your wife can drive around for a week with the check engine light on and not notice it, but if you come home with lipstick on your collar they notice immediately!o_O

    Look at it this way.
When subtle custom touches are done on a car, and you don't notice them, then it was done well.

You know what they say........."if you remember the 60's...........you weren't there".:p
And by the way, this malady of yours is not exclusive to just you, I'll bet it's more prominent in this group of ours than people would like to admit to.
I've got three long term projects that I have done many things to since the first one was started in 1983 and some of them have been reworked so someday when they (or if they) get assembled it's going to be a real challenge remembering what I've done.
My dinghy:confused: self gets dinghier (is that a word) as I get older.

Yeah that was embarrassing. I always think that I pay attention to what's going on. However I gotta laugh at my ignorance at times.

No photos allowed on the HAMB of my 34 as it is not HAMB friendly with its Jag "IRS/IFS but I'm sending them via PM.

I'd say that when you didn't know that it was modified the guy who did a great job and it just flat looks right. I'd bet that are a few 33/34 owners on here who wish that their deck lids had rounded corners. Sharp 90 degree corners on deck lids tend to reach out and touch you and hurt you.

  17. From the 'For What It's Worth Department":
Only photos with your rear end in it are HAMBblocked. Any views that show the H-friendly angles are not a problem. Even some previous photos that were kicked out in the yard in the past can often be posted with a little thoughtful cropping.

Yes Stogy that is what I said in my OP that the deck lid was radiused back in '55 or so. I'm wondering how you managed to get into my files though and how it is that you can post these.
MOD's it was not me that posted these, Stogy did it.

That is correct I posted them and they are cropped and or null and void of the Naughty bits...the truespokes not sure but you are on the Hokey Ass...In a way the wires look almost an inspiration of the Buffaloes of the way back Dry Lakes...

Larry for what it's worth both the front AND rear suspensions are taboo...I cropped the front off in my 3/4 view of same image...

You just posted 2 pics that will raise flags...why?...they clearly show the front suspension...just trying to help...I would not share them...

Let them go to the link to see the rest...

Please grace us with any photos of your 34 (that you know are HAMB Kosher).
The only thing I see from what @Stogy posted that could (possibly) throw up a red flag to the "street rod" haters would be the chrome wires.........so foolish of them, and if a moderator finds them offensive he would hopefully remove just that photo.

I remember years ago I snipped a headlight wire on my roadster and blew a fuse. I followed the wire and found the little fuse block mounted on the backside of the wooden dash. "Well, that's pretty smart, probably cuts down on random shorts." Minutes later I recalled that I was the one that put it there.

You are more than welcome to put a pic up of what you are talking about.
I know that some have deemed your car OT, fine. But what you are posting about isn’t OT and a pic of the area ((IMO) would be fine. Actually I like you car as a whole as well. ;)

Don' be so hard on yourself, we all learn as we go, then age kicks in and a lot of stuff is forgotten.
