Hi all, I've been a lurker on the HAMB for a long time since it's a great place to find car info and knowledge that applies to all kinds of cars. I've always loved old cars, mostly of the '50s to early '70's eras, with a few older and newer exceptions. I mostly have had British and Japanese cars, my first car was a 1968 which i completely dis***embled before I was old enough to drive. I never did re***emble it. I learned how to drive on my second car, a 1961 Morris Mini that I still have today. Since then I've had Datsuns and Toyotas, Austin-Healeys, a few more VWs and VW variants like a Brazilian Puma GTI. As for American cars, I've owned Jeeps and a 1971 Riviera. I have a 1984 Chevy S10 that I race in endurance road-race events. Now I have recently bought a car that was on my short wish list: a 1952 Kaiser Henry J. My plan for the Henry J is to build a period-correct-ish resto-custom that will be a decent daily driver. I've always liked old cars because they are not modern. I never liked the idea of modernizing old cars, except for functional things that will make driving them more plausible in modern traffic. For this car, I'm planning to put a Buick 215 aluminum V8 and a T5 5-speed in it, add some disc brakes and that's about it. My idea is making a mildly hopped-up car, close to what someone might build in the '60s or 70's. Other than the T5 and maybe an electric radiator fan, I don't want anything visually modern. I'm even going to try to get away with using the original front suspension. I would like to start a project build thread. But I'm not sure if it fits perfectly into either the Traditional Hot Rod or Traditional Custom forums. I included a pic of the car as I bought it. It has no engine or trans. It came with a GM 10-bolt rear. I already sold the American Racing rims it came with and am looking for some steelies. The body, paint and interior are all very good.
