no, I like chopped trucks but Ive never seen one of these chopped and look good to me. I like them kinda tall. The girlfriend has already named the thing the SHARK truck because of the grill. She even googles whale shark for me to see the resemblance.

Mines a big window, and people tell me that's where the name red-neck came from. After driving a few hours you are sun burned to hell :p

I've owned a couple of that body style. Put five lugs on the first by changing to '53-54 Chevy passenger front drums, and '57 Chevy car rearend to up the ratio and get five lugs so I could use 15" recaps. Back in the day 16's were hard to get, and crap. I ran the 265 w/ split manifold and glass packs. It was milage getter. Drove it back and forth to CA from MS in the 60's --- you can only imagine the Rockies after being in SF. Second was '57 big back window that I clipped with a '79 Firebird front end to get disc brakes and power steering. I drive my stuff. The latter one I changed the rear springs by cutting rivets out of 73-80 pu hangers and using the better/later springs and found a 57 Ford 9" at Long Beach Swap Meet. I ran 8"Vette rallies on the back and 5" rallies on the front. You can drill the frame and bolt the reat spring hangers on. A bitch but it's low tech. Be sure to use grade 8 bolts. The '57 has a 350 4blt w/ 350 turbo. I sold it to my brother and he still drives it. These babys are like iron. Welcome to the brotherhood. I'm, now, in the process of scrounging parts for a third one. It's a habit. I have a 292 and a 5speed stashed for it. Forget body mods. These are like dueces. God was looking over the designer's shoulders when they were doodling the lines. Not a bad angle, if you like pick-ups. Just make yourself a driver out of it and wail.

I'd say that a chop is out (ugly), but a roof pan-cake would be an interesting look (kill the cone-head) :)

Yours looks much better than mine did when I bought mine. I clipped it, then got rid of the old drive train. It was a lot of work but well worth it in the end....

I found a set of doors for 100 a piece and a set of fiberglass fenders for 200. So all togeather I would have 600 init and just floor pannels and corners to buy.

  7. I used the front seat from a 55 Chev. It had to be raised up to the proper height, but the width was perfect. It is much more comfortable than the original seat.

You mean a 55 chev car? I think I could find one of those easy enough.

I got the doors and found out the guy had 3 camaro subframes out back!! So I now have 5 doors total and a camaro subframe sitting next to the truck.

    I NEED FRONT FENDERS!!!!! ANYONE?

If it was a different color, it wouldnt be half bad. I like the pro street look on these trucks. Not so much the chop though.

I did not get a chance to read through all the threads but... classicperform.com has been a life saver for me. I work at a parts store so I would buy what I could from there and get the rest of the brackets/ adapters and everything I had to from classic performance customs.
