Fix the tail light while you're waiting. Nice starter there.

Definitely a nice starter...time to match the rest of the body to the front end and get some red paint on those rims. [IMG]

well its getting there with the primer, just need to do the passengers door and rear fender, and then the roof. after that do the body work, fill in the holes, shoot a another coat of primer, then give it the final paint job and clear. but i dont think ill paint the wheels red.

Since you can't drive it yet. I'd do a check of all the mechanicals so nothing goes wrong when you can drive it.
Check belts and hoses, grease wheelbearings. Change the fluids. Grease the fittings. Check U-Joints. Compression check it and tune it up. All the little stuff you never get around to once it's your driver. Used cars always have issues. Better to find that rotten brake hose or burned wheelbearing in your driveway. Make it safe and reliable first. Then make it purdy. Nothing sucks more than riding the bus to school because your new stereo works but your brakes don't. Looks like you're already headed in the right direction. Have a ball...

If you need any parts let me know. My dad just bought a 36,000 mi. '63 bonneville 4dr hardtop that we're pulling parts off for his convertible. We'll have lots of stuff we don't need.

thanks for the tips. me and my pops already did the breaks and seals. its a wonder it stopped, becuase the rear brakes were full of axle grease, and the front master cylinders were full of sawdust. and pretty soon we will have to pull the motor out to replace the rear rope seal, because it leaks, and that would take care of the fluid change. then i will have to change the carbrator, since its a carter and they dont make chokes for em since they folded long time go.

    thanks guys for the compliments.
my ideas for it right now would be a heavy semi dark blue metalic with pearl white roof, a pearl white fade down the middle of the hood and trunk where the rib is white pin-stripe-ing keep the whitewalls the same size, lower the front and back a little, for the interior a dark blue tuck-in-roll, white 1 inch white borders and pipeing, with probably a black carpet floor. and for the exhaust straight duals all the way back. how does that sound so far?

Well alrighty then, that explains a lot of your assinine comments you've made in the past...

Congrats on the car, Have fun waiting another TWO YEARS before YOU can drive it... you got a lot of lawns to mow... the jardineros may prove to be FIERCE competition with their leaf-blowers and machetes...

Doesnt matter how cool your BROTHER is, bit of advice:
(oh and yeah, we have high expectaions of you and this car cause of him!)

Keep your ears open at least 90% of the time, your mouth open less than 10%... Trust me, had I taken my own advice at your age, I'd have been less familiar with the taste of my own blood...

    Very cool.

Now, put a small block in it... Oh wait you, "hate small block chevys".

What'd a small block ever do to you; steal your date to 7th grade?
Cool Poncho. Cooler because it's your first car.

Think of the head start that you have (hard as it is to WAIT). I had a few project cars that I tried to revive to life, in high school, didn't have anything in running condition 'til college age. At least yer being practical about your project- when I was 14 and 15 I was searching junkyards in Pomona and wherever in L.A. County for a '34 Ford (but then you've also had a roadster or coupe project by now- do you still have that?). But see, YOUR start seems more doable. Just think of what a sweet ride it'll be by the time you have a permit. [IMG] Hey, keep us posted! What's under the hood?

  30. Congratulations on the Poncho's purchase. Looks pretty straight too. It will be fun to fix up until you are rolling on your own.

Metalflake... some kind of sick green color maybe
CRAGAR SS cause they are cool and cheap too .02

    I love small block chevys.

Because they are cheap and plentiful. Just like early T and A bodies used to be for young would-be hotrodders back in the day.

I want to go very fast all the time... in a very loud hotrod.
