Roy Rockwell had this car built as a tribute to the Bo Jones car!

When I first walked up to it in 2010 it had the full Bo Jones modified vibe going for it.

I don't have an exact weight but based on my previous Pinto powered modified I'd say 1200 to 1400 pounds.

Where is your old modified.....the the one that had 3 green 35 wires and what was the other one, red? Saw it a GG's, but never found you. That one is spot on, too!
Did you buy the new modified from a guy named Al?

3 green and 1 red wheel? Man that was way back!!
Hey a boner! I sold my old modified to a guy in Weirton West Virginia end of February.
I did buy this one from Alan Wisch, he only owned it for a month! Alan had the same problem as the original owner, Roy Rockwell.....they both had hip replacements and couldn't drive it! Alan called me May 5th frustrated and said "I can't drive or get in and out of this damned thing, if you want it you can have it for what I paid for it!!"
Which was a steal so I had to buy it![IMG]

This one is more comfortable and ALOT quicker!

Looks like a fun machine . Just keep it here on the general discussion side. Don't post it on the traditional Hot Rod side it will get shot down .

I talked to Al last week when he was back home visiting family.....he told me about not fitting in it and selling it to a neighbor. He should have said, "lucky neighbor"! Even before this thread, I figured he was talking about this modified. Al has a good eye for hot rods, and has owned lots of nice ones over the years.

If he would have run a mid 80s boat engine it would be ok. There is a 58 page post on them.

Funny, Mazda is [or was] owned mostly by Ford, so it's just a furrin' cousin powerplant.

Howdy neighbor, looks like we like to drive our hot rods on the same roads, I recognize the Sonoran bypass where you took these pictures, hope we can catch up at Big Earls when the weather cools off.

At lest the steering design is far better on the black one. Can't tell, but likely rims are off set right as well vs too far out on front of OJ one. EZ fix's you you want too. Dose look like clean work !

Thanks! I built the black one and to me proportion and stance is everything! The steering was much better in that car!
The OJ car does drive and handle pretty well, but who can say no to a Schroeder steering box? It is hard to turn at low speeds! No noticeable bump steer, but I agree on the stretch.

New toy for the OJ Modified!
Found a OBD2 port up under the dash velcroed to the ECU.
Bought a OBD2 bluetooth scanner for use with a smartphone app! Great for checking what your car is doing and adding more gauges to monitor what's going on! Helped in calibrating the Classic Instruments speedometer.
A blast to play with! A great addition! [IMG]

VERY COOL. It looks like you had the car at the Scottsdale pavilions in your pic. Bring it out again so I can see it. I cant wait to see it up close.
