theres a ton of stories....I don't get on here much thanks to me not havein a computer still, but...I'll think of some and post them.....Triple digits in ALL the cars was the biggie.....How I dozed off in Keiths coupe I'll never know...but Paul did the same thing. Our rolling Battery Charger is another...aka Matt Schmidts truck.....Drivin the 575 coupe and the roadster was a blast...Driving the roadster onto the salt with Paul for a sunrise photoshot will always be in my mind. I got to watch the sun not only set, but rise out there...perfect peace...other than the pipes of the Cdan and roadster that is...haha sorry to get all sappy. Watchin Peter Vincent shoot pic after pic was awesome...we even got to see it through his lens.......I dunno guys. It was a dream of mine to get out there...And it changed my life...seriously! if you ever wanted to get out there...DO IT...we're here on the big ball ONE time.......make the most of it!

Thank you Larry. My Dad and I had a blast. We just might make it back again next year if all goes well. Hope the weather holds up.

Hi Larry, One of the wildest parts of the whole trip we all somehow forgot to do***ent on film.
After what turned out to be our last blast across the salt (Mine by the way) the gods became angry and reclaimed Lake Bonneville as a lake. We watched ****houses as they were blown across the salt along with most of what wasn't nailed down.
Being Northeasterners we know when the rain comes you seek shelter and wait it out. Now we watched while those dumb Cali guys loaded all their stuff in the rain and boogie.
When we departed, after the weather calmed, we drove out in 2 1/2 feet of water.
My '29 lost fire about a mile off shore and was towed in by Matt Schmidt's pick up. Upon reaching Dry Land (?) we washed my engine down with donated fresh water and she re-fired and made it back to the Nugget to drink Corona and reflect.
Moral of the story, when the rain comes to the flats, flat get your *** out of there!

Good story Ron. Wish we had pictures of that.

I'm waiting for Dave to log on and explain the hole in the trailer tires.

Do you have the date for your garage night?

Getting a free meal at the Quaker Steak and Lube, Annoying a rodder in Cheyenne, being served by the toothless waitresses in Iowa, viewing spiders in Salt Lake, having stolen Peter's Post Cards, seeing blown tires that replaced the blown tires but getting a free meal, driving "like bats outta HELL", getting abandoned in Chi town but getting a a free meal, enjoying endless pizza and beer in the motel parking lots, meeting and re-meeting lots of truly cool people, observing one true ***hole in the black SUV on the salt, enjoying fine gourmet dining at Dennis' pit, being so cold we bought sweatshirts from the SCTA, losing our rookie cherries, getting thrown off the photo-op spot in Nowheresville, finding out with the top down its a roaster not a roadster. Buying three 97s and an Edelbrock fuel block from the UPS driver at a gas stop, gaining a wealth of memories with the World's greatest friends, etc., etc.,............................

My god you guys....You've covered it all. I had forgotten about some of them and I'd like to forget others. If anyone had more fun than our crew, I'd like to hear their stories. I still have a smile on my face that hasn't started to fade. My tan has, but not the smile.

Yeah, you're right it's a shame it went down the way it did. Nothing more than a couple of seconds of misunderstanding. Trey is a big man as you can see in his final response to the whole episode.

[IMG] Re: I hope they weren't Hambers, in Cheyenne, Wy
ok, its cleared up. just a misunderstanding. they were trying to get regrouped and look for some dudes gl***es, so i can understand that. i wear gl***es.

sorry to the new york guys for starting a big mess. dont think we should hold anything against this company, as far as im concerned. make your own judgement.

we can let this one die, i think.

Well Paul, I still have my tail between my legs about that one. I have only driven every kind of tractor trailer you can imagine in the past 40 odd years, you would think I would know where the damn trailer will or will not fit. But hey, seems that you ALL! got a steak dinner out of me because I screwed up! Funny **** happens, and it is all good if we can still laugh at it.

Never mind the smile Paul.......Has the erection gone down yet? Seems that you never told your friends that you made a trip to the ER to have it checked out..... After all if an erection lasts for more than 48 hours you need to seek profesional attention at once.

Dave, It's those 4 hour erections that they worry about. Getting wood from riding in cool cars is the second best reason to have one. The errection is gone for now, but the smile remains.

By the way, thanks for the steak dinner. You're a good sport.
