I hope this in in the 52-59 group this time.
Ok, a few months back I was having a overheating problem.

I and a couple of friends agree I have a blown head gasket. No water in oil though.
I took the heads off look the head gaskets over and I couldn't see where they had failed. I cleaned the heads up, reseated the valves and replaced the valve seals.

After I clean the heads, I reinstalled them with new head bolts.
Then I reinstalled the Intake and was getting ready to put the hoses back on. [IMG]

That is a blue paper shop towel. I looked back a my pictures. The last time I had towels around the open engine was when I had installed the aluminum intake close to a year ago. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You use a better quality paper product than me to last that long in a cooling system.

when you create a new thread and you want it to be "in the 52-59 ford" group you have to select that prefix (just to the left of the thread****le) . Then and only then will your thread be searchable as Ryan indicated after he imported the old content. You did not do that on this thread. With that said all of the former social group threads are visible to all in the off topic forum. they are no longer hidden from the rest of the Hamb members

  8. Pressure testing the cooling system and compression testing the cylinders would have determined whether or not a head gasket was an issue and, when searching for the cause of your overheating, shouldn't your search have included an****essment of the thermostat? (is it stuck, is it opening at the correct temp ... is this rag dangling through it a factory item?). o_O;)

Glad you got it sorted but I kinda think you took the long way home on this trip :D
