Well, I finally joined. Ive known about this site for quite a while, but for some reason never took the time to join until today. Ive been around this hot rod / car thing all my life. Im hands on and consider myself Hard Core. I grew up in Western Mass and as a kid in the late 50s, my cousin John and I would build model cars and read the rod magazines of the time. This eventually lead to building real cars. I got my first car, a 53 Ford Sunliner convert at 14. At that time we decided that the center of the hot rod universe was in California. 31 years ago, we (my wife, son and I) had the opportunity to move there. Having lived here since then has proven to be everything that I had hoped it would be. Through the years Ive had a number of cars ranging from Corvettes, tri-five Chevys, muscle cars, drag cars, and hot rod roadsters. Shortly after moving to California, we thought that a Woodie would be appropriate, so the search began for a suitable car. We located a 35 Ford Woodie basket case, and what I thought would take 2 to 3 years to complete, took 14 years. The car has been done for 15 years now and were still enjoying it. In addition to the Woodie, Ive got an old school Model A tudor Phaeton hi-boy under construction. Its a metal bodied car and pretty rare. Its full of vintage parts that Ive been gathering for years and how I came about the body is a story in itself. Ill post pictures of the Woodie and project Model A sometime in the future.
