I found a 53 chev. What's it worth?

In the local paper I found a 53 belair 2 door. I don't know if it's a hard top or sedan. Interior shot, paint ok. Original motor- 90,000 miles. 3 on the tree. Little rust in the floor but that's it. Back window busted. Ran when parked, thinks it needs a battery to run and thats it. Ol' guy says its been in the family since new. I forgot to ask how long its been sitting. I'd just run out and look at it but its 100 miles away and I'm really pressed for time right now. Thanks -FFJ

 

A 53 belair 2 door is SUPER rare! My god man, even non running and rusty those things are worth $15000 to $25K easy. At the very least you should pick it up and turn it on E-bay to make a quick coupla thousand!


Just pulling your chain, man. Impossible to say without seeing the condition of the car. I'd be willing to pay anywhere from $750 to $3000 or a non running '53 belair two door, depending on the condition. See if you can get them to e-mail some pics, or find someone closer to go check it out for you. Part of car hunting means that sometimes you have to travel 100 miles only to look at total junk. Ask the owner for an honest description: there's rust, Where is it? When did it last run, why did it quit running? Do the tires hold air? Is all the gl*** good? Is all the chrome present, is there any damage? Questions, questions, questions.
