Another vote for the wagon. There aren't many wagons around. They were the grocery getters, and kid haulers. Not many people saved them. When I go to shows, I'm more interested in seeing the wagons and stuff that no one saved, than I am the traditional 'hot rod' type of cars. I get tired of seeing the same crap, and not many people can set up a bowling alley in the back of their car!

  3. I'am with Fidget, go wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,wagon,
and only the wagon. Can you see i have a soft spot for wagons.
There's nothing nicer than a long roof dumped on it's arse!.

If you have no one to do your glass down there, get a hold of NONAME here on the board. He's in Oregon City, and he did an excellent job on my flat glass. I think his website address is under his member profile.

  5. The problem isnt the flat glass, its the damn curved stuff... but I looked on classicflatglass.com and it looks like they can find what I need.... I know, its an ironic name....

  6. Alright y'all, I went to go see it tonight and It has no frame rot... Its dry as a bone under there... I did however find some pinholes in the floor right in front of the rear seat, no biggie. And it turns out that the rear hatch glass is there and intact. HOORAY!!!!! But I couldnt figure out how to roll it up.... its got a flip handle that turns into a crank but it did nothing, I saw a period ad right now that showed he hatch glass roll up when the key was put in the handle and turned a certain way.... maybe one of you can shed some light....

That is the manual rear window. Same as I have. It's a fairly simple mechanism, the crank engages the regulator. Is the tailgate closed? The window has to be all the way down before the tailgate handle will release to let the talgate down, but I can't remember if the window will crank once the tailgate has been opened. I don't think I've ever tried, lol.

The one with the key is the power rear window. Cars that have it, also have a switch on the dash to operate it from up front.

  9. Ok, well the tailgate is closed and theres about a 1/4 inch of chrome trim showing on the top of the glass.... I popped the handle out fairly easy but when Id wind it nothing would happen, Its probably off its track or something. so the handle to open the tailgate isnt inside the car???? Its the chrome clamshell type dealy on the inside of the tailgate??? And i assume it has a childlock....

I just called the owner and offered him $1000 for it and he said hed think about it and asked me to call him next wednesday...... :(

Keep after it man. You'll have one of the most unusual cars on the HAMB. A 2dr wagon is one of my "to die for" projects. I'm on a quest for another unusual one, a 2dr '64/'65 Chevelle 2dr wagon. With too many projects here already I'll make room if one should appear.:)

The chrome is just the window frame. It sounds like the handle is off track. Yes the handle is inside the car, but it doesn't lift up - it swings out. It swings over the top of the glass. That's why the tailgate glass has to be down before the tailgate can be opened. No childlock on it...

  15. Well alrighty then..... heres some more pics for you guys.... oh and to add to its rarity its a 9 passenger wagon :D.....

Dump the Poly, throw in a 383-440 wedge and you'll be on your way!

    :)

  17. Im gonna try to keep the poly and the og torqueflight... Ive done the whole fast car thing... I just want a cool cruiser thats more practical than my old bugand my malibu... and ive wanted this exact car for going on six years (when i first saw it). so if the guy wont budge on his price ill probably get it anyways.

Diggin the dash and steering wheel and the whole damn thing. Very cool! When it's time for upholstery go to SMS-? in Canby. They have the motherlode of original 50's fabrics. Do it up right and you'll never be sorry.

Jim, NONAME, has been doing glass since 1965. He might have a lead on the curved stuff. It's worth a shot if you get it.

You better buy this thing!! That is one cool car, that can only be made cooler!

  24. Oh no worries alfred, theres no part of me thats unsure anymore and I am prepared to pay whatever he counteroffers with and red, that apache next to the wagon is pretty solid but its 4wd i believe... its got the og straight 8.

Straitedge, just read the entire thread, hope the wagon gets in your driveway real soon, it's reaaly neat ! I'm jealous, of course....if you're gonna stay with the poly , which i totaly concur with, wondering if you would be interested in a complete dual quad intake setup we pulled off of a running 66 318 poly last week, the dude wanted a 383 4 bbl instead. pm me if interested,............ and for anything cast iron Powerflite or Torqueflite shifter cable related, I'd throw a call into Imperial services in MI, I bought a 66 and up Aluminum Torqueflite conversion kit to use in my 55 Dodge truck which i will be running a 57 Dodge truck pushbutton shifter in behind a 440, the cable is super quality, and they really work with the customer to get the job done right.

And back to the wagon, the whole idea of red interiors is just mindblowing, a completed red car with red guts.....waaaaay f'n cool! Good luck!!!!

  28. Hey mbmopar, thanks for the kind words. A dual-quad setup would be bitchen but after the purchase of the car Im probably not gonna have the cash to get that from you. and thanks for the info on the typerighter shifter because i think mine isnt hooked up.... or i just dont know what im doing.... I assume that the car needs to be running or at least have the key in to change gears but I havent seen a key yet.....

and from what ive been able to find out... they only made 11000 and some change of BOTH 6 and 9 2 door passenger wagons, mine being the even rarer 9 passenger version :D

So rare, they never made them. :D I've had the same idea myself..

What makes you say it's a 9 passenger wagon? The 9p wagons had the rear facing seat at the back and step pads on the rear bumper. Does that car have them? They didn't make any 9p 2dr wagons from the factory, but it would be simple enough to put the parts on one.

There were 20,111 Deluxe 2dr Sububans made, and 11,196 Custom 2dr Suburbans, all were 6p. It looks like yours is a Custom.

Dammit - I love your car everytime I see it! :) Not sure exactly why - I am very partial to Mopars though.
