New fuel lines and now I got fuel to the carb. All I need to do is figure out the timing and it should run. And I scored a surfboard yesterday.
That is a great car. Whatever you do, be deliberate and do it right. I think wagons lend themselves better to being customized than kustomized. No matter what, a tail down wagon looks overloaded with snotty kids. Good luck! PS- Great Car!
The old fuel pump turned out to be bad after all. I put a new one in today, but the carb had fuel coming out from every hole. After I locate a rebuild kit, clean it up and rebuild it, maybe itll run.
Heres a quick rendering of what I MAY want it to look like. Okay I lied, it took forever, I **** at photoshop. I dont know how to make it metallic on bottom and flake on top, but you can imagine that. Lace on front half of roof that matches the inlays on the seats. Different wheels of course. Colors arent exact BTW engine has a severe knock. Plans of rebuild coming together in new thread.
That looks to be a pretty solid car. You will be able to fit a lot of friends in it on cruise night too. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
You got a good one. Don,t see the wagons much, and the best way to be different with it is too leave it stock. I used to drive a 62 401, not super fast off the line but man it would pull like a freight train as it gathered speed. Will make a great one to use for parts chasing, and pullin your other barn finds home.
Nope.....he said its been parked for 15 years. He either neglected to mention it had a knock or honestly didnt know. He seemed to be a pretty honest man. I wasnt expecting it, but hey...atleast afterwards Ill have a strong, reliable drivetrain.
I told my dad that once we get the buick back on the road, its his. He was more excited about it than I was when we looked at it, he just didnt have a place to store it out of the weather. Im more into 50s buicks anyways. Ill still keep the build thread going of co****, its just gonna be considered my dad's car for now on.
Update on this super old thread for reference purposes. Sometime in the fall of 2012, after a $900 rebuild kit and extensive search for a single piston, my dad rebuilt the nailhead and got it running great. My parents, wife and I loaded up and cruised it around the block. Everything felt and sounded great. The next morning my dad went to start it up and a rocker ***embly grenaded. Its been sitting under a cover since then. Other projects and life in general have taken priority. It wont be forgotten and Ill post updates when they happen. Hopefully not 3 years later like I am today.
I had a 1964 buick lesbra station wagon. Bought it out of Maine. It too ad a blown motor but the guy had it replaced with another 401 motor. It was sold here on the hamb.It was plum blue.Man I miss that car.Bruce.
