I just got my 1st can of roll on primer. Has anyone used roll on primer. This is made by transtar autobody and is a 2 part roll-it primer. It is fast drying and you can apply direct to metal and eliminate the need for a self etch primer.

Is the roller a use once and toss it deal?
can you "rag" it and do Faux finishes like in the bathroom?

  3. That stuff rocks! I've used it quite a bit. Sands nice, fills great.

Brands, What it is, Lacquer? Urethane?
How thick does it go on per coat?
Do you have to sand betwen coats?
Does it have a time limit before sanding/recoating?

  5. We used it on this truck as a test. I was very happy with the results.

WOW! you can't even see the dents anymore. now THATS some good primer!! [IMG] [IMG]

  8. Dr,it's a two part urethane. Same as any good high fill spray on catalized primer. Slightly rougher surface than sprayed, so it takes a little more sanding(VERY little). No booth, no overspray, and no worries about moisture in your air system.
I told you guys about this two years ago. Pay attention! [IMG]

so where do you get it, who makes it and what does it cost??? it really eliminates the need for etching primer on bare metal huh??? sounds interesting.....

  10. Rollover repair in a can! How can you beat that! [IMG]

I had the truck for a year after paint, no shrinking, no die back. I was very happy with the stuff!

  11. Transtar is the brand. PPG has it too but it's not direct to metal. I get it at an automotive paint store. About 35 a qt, with catalist. It takes a foam one time use roller. I think they are about a buck each.
