i picked this up last weekend not sure what it came from maybe someone can shed some light on its origins.
A freind of mine here in town knew about it for a few years and finally talked the guy into selling it and the other three to us.
couple of more pics we mocked it up on the traier to get a sense of what it might look like in the future
Wow. I saw a dilapidated one a local rod builder waited 20 years to get. You sir are a lucky man. That thing is in good *** shape
I recognize that tank. I'm not sure which plane they were used on, but I have seen a couple of race cars that used them. One is the johnson shipley tank. The orange one in the picture below. And I think that might be the tank that the Offenhauser drag car used to make the body. Good find. I'd like to see more pictures of it when you open it up. Most likely a Korean war era tank.
I meant to say, I'd like to see more pictures of it when you have it apart. It's one of the only early tanks that have such a blunt nose.
I thought you would be the one that would know something about it I think your correct about the korean war time line the tag says it was manufactured in nov. 1951. thanks for the info. also we had one that was missing part of the belly and you could see the bulkheads inside they looked pretty beefy to me.
