I Had A Problem At Work Today...

Back when I worked ... as a GOVERNMENT employee ...

My place of employment fired 3 people within a week for unauthorized web surfing. No porn ... just use of computers on GOVERNMENT PAYROLL TIME ... for their own use.


I have internet at home so I cannot understand risking your job for a little goofing off on the net ...

 

I'm a computer idiot, what are you trying to tells us in simple english please. What's a VPN. and also they told us not to download anything.

 

Thats why you bring your own laptop to work!

 

I work for a Spanish Train manufacturer as an on-board train tech here in the US.

No fuckin' way I'd look at any website not TOTALLY dedicated to work while on their computer.

My wife works from home for Premera (medical ins.) and uses their computer here. I'm always shocked how much time is consumed w/ BS emails & etc between those employees. I've tried warning her about using her work comp. for browsing, but... well, just read my signature!

just one more reason I'm self employed. But it does get my panties in a bunch, this world is getting so PC it sucks. The country that screams freedom, just seems to replace one intollerence with another.

 

I got to be good friends with the IT guy at my old job. He told me of the two LAN's that they use. One is watched, one isnt. I could do anything on company time. Productive, no, but damn fun.

 

Funny this popped up again...I guess it was much ado about nothing. I was quaking in my socks for a few weeks but nothing ever came of it (knock on wood).
