Hey Joel, do you think that 55 I posted is the same one you have posted pics of? I'm pretty sure it was red at one point.
Chad, the "Too Tall" '55 was a hardtop. I gotta look in the archives about the one you've pictured. Where is this shop at and what's up with it? Joel BTW: If I ever found this car it would be a dream come true!
THATS ABOUT AS COOL AS IT GETS IN MY BOOK,JUST WATCHIN THE COPS FACES,SAYIN WTF AS YOU BLOW BY THEM!!
You mean the Chrysler Norseman?? its on the Andrea Dorea.....someone was going after it about a year ago..but i never heard if they found it or not....it was in the hold..but we have heard that it was: A. on a skid B. in a container c. strapped to the deck.
I would say the Marmon Meteor, but I don't know if that was ripped apart for metal during the WWII scrap metal drives or not. Anybody have any idea?
"Hmmm, I'll just add two more headlights, two more rear tires, two blowers, two high-back bucket seats and, oh yeah, the most hideous exhaust stacks ever seen on a rod." What a shame!
how about Bob Tindle's chopped and blown show 'n drag deuce 2 door sedan highboy with the flip-up body.....called the "Orange Crate? Remember that one??
The Orange Crate is redone, and making the show circuit. I'd have to say the Monogram Big Deuce, it was given away as a promotional prize, and never seen again. Same with the Big T. Dean
George's '33 is now on permanent display in the Ford Museum. George did what a lot of us wish we had...kept everyone one of his cars...even the Ranchero he won at a NHRA national event. He'll be at the GASSER Reunion in Thompson, OH on July 15-17 talking to fans and autographing everything in sight. Although we don't have it on our website yet (www.GASSERmagazine.com), George is having us market his DVD. I'm guessing we'll have it on the website sometime next week. I was talking with some guys at work yesterday. We were discussing this Yugo that blew off the Mackinac Bridge (Northern Michigan) in the '80s. We were wondering if it was still there. There's your diving expedition. The wind caught the poor little bastard and sent it over the rail. I think there was a lady driving. It's a long way down to the water. What a ride she had.
George Montgomery did not keep all of his cars. He sold the Willy's. I went to high school with this guy,He and his dad tracked down all the pieces and put it back together. I have sat in this car in their garage in the early 80s. Heres the link to their story, spelling sucks, but it is true http://www.hometown.aol.com/mrwillysgasser/malco.html
Deuce rails, thank you for making me pee my pants. The Pink Panther car's in a museum in Sarasota, it's cool as heck.
For me it'd hafta be the 58 Impala from Grafitti. Last rumor I heard was that it still existed in some barn somewhere, relatively untouched since the movie. I know someone cloned it a couple years back, since it was in one of the magazines...
Remember Montgomery's cool 34 3w with the cad motor [pre-33 willys]?Supposedly Garlits just bought it completely intact from the guy Montgomery sold it to back in the day.I guess it barely turned a wheel in 30+ years. What a time capsule!
Wasn't there a steel version of Little Al, the radiacally chopped 34 with the aircraft motor? Is that still around?
the hilborn streamliner's fate was unofficially worked out on the HAMB a while back, over a year. two days of posts and etc later, a HAMBer knew somebody or what have you that was the last owner of the car, which after lots of use, was pretty ragged out and was scrapped. anybody care to update that? i forget the details. the Bullitt mustang was a 68.
Do tell! I dug that thing. Also the Willys coupe Jack Chisenhall and his brother built for Street Rodder mag...
Any of the 'Cheech and Chong' cars. Could you imagine pulling up to the Round-up in Austin 'Hippie Hollow',TX in 'Nice Dreams'? Estoy mas chigon!
I would like to see... The "Moonglow" '54 Chevy Nick Matranga's '39 Merc Blackie Gedjian's A roadster
