Actually I would love to find this one. This is a 60 or 61 Thames that my uncle owned about 76 or 77 had a 327 turbo 400 and narrowed 9 inch. It was cool and strong running
The X sonic is being rebuilt.I and a friend recieved a email from the original owner after trying to dig up more pics and info on it.
Actually, more recently, like the last three months, one of the Oklahoma guys who is on a HA/GR team let it slip that the car is hiding out in an Oklahoma garage. I'm still waiting for the "pictures from an undisclosed location" I realize the guy has personal history with the car, but I sure wish he'd share the car with the rest of the world.
It'll be interesting to see the condition of it when it comes out. I'm gonna try my best to be there for the event.
The Impala was in a "Readers Rides" kinda section in one of the mags not too long ago. Some guy bought it for his kids first car. Seems he knew somebody at the studios or something like that. It was pretty complete except for some engine stuff. He was going to get it running and drive it as is. I think it was OSR. I'll look and see if I can find it.
The X-Sonic, hell yeah! That car is damn near impossible to find even pictures of! (by far the coolest 'Vette ever) ...on the flip-side, what about the Outhouse?
i think a tank patton rode in would be awesome...or a hot rodded hitlers car kind of sticking it to that psycho.
The Bullit mustang was found, with the front end still mangled,by one of the movies producers about 7 years ago. the owner said it will be passed on to his son in his will when he dies. he also made it very apparent that he was not interested in selling it, or having any media coverage of the car in its current state. the coolest part of it is the owners son,who is apparently a collector,is not aware his father owns the car! is it pure hype and the car is actually now a cube,or is this the real deal? I don't know. but it would be a damn cool discovery one day. and considering McQueen himself lived in an aircraft hanger with his cars and bikes (and horses, and airplanes, and a bunch of kenneth howards stuff, and a huge pile of old newspapers, all while being extremely wealthy)it is not that far off base. knowing what I know about McQueen, I can see this being true.he surrounded himself with some pretty eclectic people.like Howard Huges ecclectic. we might see that car again in our lifetimes!
Not calling you a liar by any means but do you have any articles or anything on that? This is the first I've head of it and I used to be HUGE into mustangs around that same time.
A 1923 Chevy Copper cooled..... Here's the story...http://canadiandriver.com/articles/bv/copper.htm I had a grille emblem from one of these once...and I saw the one in the Henry ford Museum.
'long time ago, I was involved with some show cars. The story that I got from someone that knows, is the Captain America motorcycle was stolen. Also the James Dean car was stolen. Both were on their way back from Florida and both disappeared in the same area. Some one that worked for a large car show corpoation in Detroit knows where they are.
I don't know where it went, but I saw it on the last day it was ever seen somewhere around 1959 or 60 at the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami. I was striping cars at the show. Dean's car was hired from George Barris and he claims it was never loaded into the trailer for the return trip to California. If you were a truck driver carrying a famous car, wouldn't you know it if was loaded and that your weight would be different than everytime you hit a truck scale across the country. Barris claims when they opened the truck, all that was there was the large size reproduction of the title. Very errie, looking at that car. Strange........ OilCan, is the initials of the person you are talking about, RE?
This certainly isn't a 'special' car as far as main stream is concerned, but i'd want to find the 63 impala that my dad bought new.. kinda strange, but his actuall car is something that i've alway's wanted to bring back home. Tony
Speaking of Hitlers car, dad owned one in '55. a 33- 34 mersadies(sp) bought it for $100 in wiesbaden Germany went he was stationed there. The locals would spit on it as they walked by it. He traded it for a Buick and $50. It sold at the Leake Action in the early '70's for $150,000....... Oh well
It's supposed to be in Colville WA.(the orig,) According to a guy that I know and trust. I haven't seen it myself.
