I wasn't here for all of December and January was blanketed by either rain or cold... and as such, I haven't driven my model-A in almost three months. I can literally feel the depression coming down on me as a result. Today I did something about it... It ain't gonna shrink if it gets wet, right? I was planning on making a feature of my drive... You know, content and all... But, I only got the shot of me uncovering the damned thing. The rest of the time was spent raising hell.
Such a killer coupe, Ry! Here in the PNW- it is grey, wet, and cold. So for now, my '57 is getting a sweet running 292 for when the weather changes.
If you are raising hell already, I will not mention that Saturday and Sunday will be 72 and 73 respectively here.
Hey Dude. @Ryan Count your lucky star's that you have the ability to go clear your head out and relax, at the Pacific Atomic headquarters, and then be able to return home safely. Be glad that you have the assets you have and the cool cars you have, and to be able to go out and blow off some steam, in your Model A! Go down some dusty road, hauling ass, making dust rooster tails, and then come back home and spend some time cleaning the Model A and just smile at what you did! Your results may vary !
I agree Ryan. winter SUCKS and I too HATE it. However I do get work done on the Drag Coupe during the absolute shit weather.
Does a body good. Streets have been ice, snow and salt here in the metro but today in a “warm” down pour I got the car out of only to drive down the driveway and let it bark a little and remind me that better days are ahead. Stoked you got it out and had some fun!
My shit has been sitting right here for about two months. Today it’s 65 but we just had about 8 inches of snow last week. Last three days has been a major meltdown and the streets are a mess! I’m not going anywhere until all this salt is gone!
I escape to Florida for a five month stint. The only thing I miss is driving them. Too expensive to move them back and forth 2000 miles every five months. I could keep one here and one in Ohio but even storage is expensive here in this area of Florida. And I don’t like not having both available when I want.
Preaching to the choir Ryan, I do too. Here in South Carolina we can drive our hot rods & customs all year long but during the winter we do have a lot of damp, wet & cold days so having a heater goes a long way to improve my attitude. HRP
I hate summer. Raining today, drove the panel...........not a hot rod but it's built to drive in winter weather.
I've only been able to open the hood on my 53 the last few days. Hadn't been able to open it in a week
Mine's sitting and waiting for spring. It's been too cold in my garage to do anything on it but the weather guy says next week it'll be in the 50s. Temp/s been in the mid 30s and most of the snow has melted but we still have some 4' drifts. Winter sucks....so depressing
You’re kidding right???? Austin Texas Winter…I’ll trade ya any day…we get excited when it’s 38 here this time of year
It's common where I live to have a winter car and a summer car. The benefit is that every six months it's like getting a brand new car.
My Roadster has been off the road for two years, this is a picture of it the last time I drove it. I not sure where all the oil came from, but I need to pull the motor and fix it. Life and other projects get in the way. Now the weather SUCKS! We had snow, now we have rain, fog and cold. It's miserable. Makes it hard to get motivated.
I have learned to embrace winter as a time to recharge, my vehicles and myself. Here in NW Pennsylvania winter can be a long sloppy season. I used to be envious of those that could drive their hot rods all winter but I cured that by buying a off topic by five years c10 pickup that I will drive in the winter if the road is dry. It helps me get through those long dark days. I keep looking for a HAMB friendly vehicle I can use the same way.
You want a little cheese with that whine about winter ? 2-3 foot drift blocking both my shop walk in doors and both 10 foot overhead doors. My cars/ trucks aren't going anywhere.
Our weather is a lot like Danny’s, generally we can get in a drive most days of the week. But last week, we got some of that dreaded winter weather, ice. It doesn’t take much to shut us down as we don’t have the equipment to handle it other than the major roads, but even at that there isn’t much you can do with ice. We got slammed with 1/4” of ice that kept the roads shut down three or four days and temps didn’t get above freezing all week. After a brief warmup, we’ve now had rain the last two days and forecast more into the weekend. I normally get my car out at least once a week, but needless to say it hasn’t moved. No sense taking unnecessary chances on ice or in these thunderstorms and flash flooding. I hate winter too! 7 weeks until spring!
20 above in Ryan's hood will make you wish you were back in 20 below in your hood. I lived in Central Texas for 8 years and that is an entirely different cold there. It's 33 here in the valley and I just walked out the 400+ ft to the mailbox in a slushy mess that will be a real mess when it freezes. I had a flock of geese settle in in the field behind the house a couple of nights ago. That's my winter bonus for this week.
