I put mine away in December and it usually comes out in March towards the end of the month. They use lots of salt on the roads here and I like to wait at least two rainey days before I put it on the road.
Different, but feels the same extremes. Our lows the first part of the week were single digits, 5-8 degrees. I know that may not sound cold depending on where you live, but when your average winter low is around 30, that 5 is extremely cold! Our 98 degree summers would probably feel like hell up in Alberta, especially with our 90% humidity. We all adapt to where we’re at.
We had a hard freeze in Texas for about a week. Then followed that with 10 inches of rain over another week. Could of been a lot worse if that rain came as 4 feet of snow. I had to tuck my T-shirt in my belt because it was feeling drafty.
Nice picture... But it's missing something.... A Christmas tree hangin' out above the tail gate! Photoshop time right here...
Yup, how else can we go 0-60 in mere seconds on snow n ice? Used to be a big dog, 165-170hp. Nowadays that's slow. Oh well, had my fun...
Back in the seventies I remember it being-20 or more below zero on New Years Eve every year, I think it was +23 this year. I’ve seen 6” of snow on October 1st and on June 1 st.. When I was younger we spent a lot of time driving or projects in the winter although I quit that after I quit street racing. So I can get a good chuckle when thinking about not being able to drive my hot rod for two months. Times are tough. lol
Summer is my least favorite I got one tiny heater in the shop. Haven’t fired up the kerosene jet engine in a few years. No AC Just got my first ride in over 20 years with AC. Probably the same amount of time for a radio. No heat in the bus. Removed both heat and AC in an OT we’re building. But I am getting older. Started wearing a jacket more in the winter. Haven’t had working heat at school for several years. Students think I’m crazy cause I rarely wear a jacket. Just don’t like working in em. I’m burning up and they’re freezing. I guess I’m just blessed or cursed.
That feeling of too cold in Texas likely is caused by humidity. It turns the temp invasive. As a youngster, in PA, I was out in it daily. Morning, & Evening papers, pumping Gulf gas in between. Chapped hands, double clothes, nothing water-proof like we have today Once I took to driving the heater was my friend. Drove thru snow, ice, ( no brains, keep it under 5 MPH ) Now it has to be 40 or better or, I'm just not interested.
Not as bad as we had it a few weeks ago but the converted pig shed where my car is is COLD and too large to heat up. Pic from a week ago when I went to check on the car (ignore OT machinery) ... I hate winter too.
Flurries yep ,Fuck it put snow tires on and go,around here if you wait for no snow you might get six months driving time. A week ago I saw a yellow 55-57 t bird on the road. Dan
Here in Wisconsin we have only two seasons Winter and road construction. You just have to adapt to your situation I’m serious about snow tires I’ve never owned anything that I didn’t or wouldn’t drive in the snow. Snow and salt wash off and a little maintenance will take care of any rust issues. I’m not suggesting driving a hot rod or custom in a blizzard or ice but no way can I leave a fun car parked for maybe 7 months.
After building vehicles I could only drive in summer,I purposely built my Model A so that I can drive in the winter as I was tired of not enjoying the days between snow events. Have a set of studded snow tires that I put on and also front and rear fenders with some side skirts for the engine compartment. These come off in the summer and I can now enjoy cruising year round. Do not go out in real snow events, but usually a day or so after it is doable.
Wow, that's an A V8, and beautiful, you just don't see many anymore. Mines not purdy like that, but so fun to drive between storms. The only thing I like about winter is no Mosquitos or Rattle Snakes.
I tend to get more car stuff done in the Winter, with a heated, well lit shop. Besides, no grass to mow, and nothing else to distract me. After a week of low teen temps, we had a nice 50 degree day, and I rolled in the chassis jig for a new project.
Four pages of how you hate winter . I can not believe no one’s offered up a virgin to sacrifice to get rid or winter
