I won't buy anything that I don't know about. I do research. I don't ask for opinions. Why would I care what someones opinion is when it's my money coming out of my pocket? When it's my money, nobodys opinion/guess matters. Pay what you want to pay and not a dime more. If you don't you'll be unhappy and feel you got ****ed.
You can usually find an Antique/Cl***ic Auto Price Guide in the magazine section at a supermarket. Or at a bookstore like Hastings. Buy one of those and study it a bit......see how they rank the cars by condition. 5 is pretty much junk........they give a price for that. #1 is like new or better.....not many in that cl***......they give a price for that based on info from known sales and cl***ic car auctions. You could take the book with you to show the seller, if he seems to be throwing out a very high price figure. Or----you would also know if he was shooting you a real bargain price. But, just asking someone what a car should be worth when you haven't seen it and don't know it's condition is an impossible question.
Hey camojams. Rather than getting all seppo about some of the comments, look at what you asked and the way you asked it!! Pretty open to interpretation, I reckon. Also some good advice from 47 Plym and lotek. My two cents worth. Be upfront and ask him, you may be pleasantly surprised. Good luck and let us know the outcome
