Heros are always cool but the ones with the means to feed my dreams are the best. The Diner can go in my back yard (3 1/2 acres) and fulfill the dream of owning a restaurant.

Frank, at the very most, I'm only going to use half of it and it's idential on either end. the entrances were on the 24' ends so if the 40' wall was split down the middle (it's in panels so no problem), it would make two excellent 20'x24' diners. It's really not terribly big for a diner as many of them were over 60' long. It's being professionally dis***embled right now for removal from the building. Let me know if you need a diner!

  4. Hey Frank,

I can help with that dream!! :D

I may have a diner up for sale again real soon. It's even close to you!!

I sold it once a year ago, maybe selling it a second time will do the trick?

Did you know the HAMB has a Diner social group?

There has been a big resurgence in diners recently. Some cause by the aging populations general interest in nostalgia and perhaps some due to the Food Networks Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. It would be a shame to see this cool old diner not turned into a resturant. I have been toying with the idea of opening a diner for a long time, and if I were closer I would try to take it off your hands.

I have something that is very unique you may be interested in buying.
It is my vintage track roadster..It is the only one like it in the world.
It is fast and it is fun.
I need to sell it so I can get my old Mother an operation to save her life.
She is living in a tent down by the railroad tracks now and has a lot of trouble
getting around in her wheel chair.

Welcome to Scoobyville. The retro theme park, Indy.

Here I thought I was bad for hitting the buy it now on a nos Ford axle that isn't quite what I thought it was. And I still don't know what it is for sure. Not near as cool as a stainless diner though.

I was going to suggest that you build a '50s era model railroad and slot racing layout in one of the diner halves. But, upon reading that you've got A.D.D., that idea probably won't work unless you can find someone else with the patience to build it. Good luck and thanks for helping to keep the economy moving by circulating money by buying and selling.

As Mr48Chev said " Welcome to Scoobyville"....This is what I was thinking too before you said the drive in is gone and you don't want a resturant. A small screen playing car flicks and a the diner up and running even for a couple cruise in events per summer could more than justify it to me. Honestly if you had the space I'd still keep it in one peice no matter what you do with it as it seems a shame to cut up.

With the A.D.D. I do the same thing, but mostly just with cars and speed equipment. I enjoy building them, trade one for the next whether it was planned or not, I'm always up for the rare finds and oddities and on top that they usually come in pairs. I lose interest in a project the moment I see another one built like it or as soon as challenging aspect is accomplished and somone with cash wants it. I cut up my running OE paint 59 F-100, made it a chopped hardtop and sectioned it to a point it looked more like a wild custom ranchero. A very similar build up was published and I never touched it again even with everything to finish it paid for. Because of this I rarely finish anything of my own but have a varing number of projects going on at the same time for myself and others. I'm a poor example but for me I finally decided it was time to build something that I wanted as far back as I could remember and no matter what it would not leave until it is finished. Far from complete it is the futherest I've gotten in years on something of my own. I still did a V8 Corvair, a model A and I'm slowly working on a 64 Fairlane wagon.

You just need to focus on if you could only have one project of any kind what would it be and go after it. Then and only then move on to the next.

It's either a sickness or you got too much dollars and no sense........
If you got the pockets to go willie-nillie buying **** it dosen't sound like a big "problem". Just save all the old stuff you can for the next generation. God knows, I can't afford ANY of the stuff you listed......

Darn Scooby, you sure know how toget my wheels spinning. I'm trying to wrap my head around exactly what you have. Is it just a facade. I see you said no roof or interior. What exactly are we looking at? Besides ten tons of cool.

I'm cracking up that you all think I'm rich. I work at a Texas Roadhouse. We sell $9 steaks. A lot of it was being in the wrong place at the right time. Entire 1950's drive-in movie theater...$3000. Entire bowling alley...$1200. There were no other buyers and they were poor listings. That's not big money stuff...at least not in my book. A ton of these things get destroyed every day because no one steps up to buy them when it's time for them to be removed.

The diner was expensive but it's not like I'm dropping $50k on it. I'm gonna have under $15k in the whole thing and that's professionally dis***embled, and ready to take home. If I split in half, I could make a $7500 diner and sell the other one. That seems like a lot of money until you consider that my back porch is 20'x25' and I just got a quote to put new windows in in and it was $8000. Soooo....I could have new windows or replace the whole thing with a vintage stainless steel diner for $500 less.

Anybody can get new windows, but not everybody can have a stainless steel diner. They just never seem to have any diners in stock at Lowe's.

So if anybody needs a diner, let me know. I've got an extra! It would make a dandy mother-in-law quarters too! Diner can be paid for in cash, hot rods, or real flying saucers. I'm a fan of all three.

It's a real building but yes, it's just the exterior of the building. It was built inside a shoe store a long time ago. I have no idea why. Now they are tearing it out to build a culinary school. Why you would remove a vintage diner from a culinary school is beyond me. I think the neon probably cost more new than I bought the whole thing for.

Gotcha. Don't cut it up yet. Brain is working on this end. How expensive would it be to ship it to Shreveport, and how big a space would we need to store it broken down? Also, how about shipping to Austin?

Scoob, you are a insane, but I love ya! I need to come by your place and check your **** out. I always have different ( some say wacky ) ideas to use out of the ordinary items. Need to brain storm this one! You are the YODA of ****! I bow down the god!

  30. Like I said, no plan at all. Anyone got any good ideas?

I have a GREAT Idea, Adopt ME!!! I'll maintain it all for you and won't even ***** or complain at all. :) I have a similar sickness with tools. My wife and kids both think I am insane when it comes to tools. Looks like one hell of a sweet purchase though.. I like the idea of using it by the pool, and the one in the garage. Either one would be extremely cool to me.

Then again so is adopting a 36 yr old gear head. hahaha
