Hot Rods I have an old mans car now

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by roadstar, Sep 29, 2012.

  1. Those of you that know me know I have put many miles on a couple of different 32 roadsters and a well known 40 coupe I have built over the years.

The wife and I talked about getting a wagon for some long hauling. So a couple of weeks ago we stumbled across this and fell in love with it.

It is a california built handyman wagon, kinda rare 210 model, restored about 25 years ago.

Great driver quality, just needs a new interior and I think I can handle that.

I haven't been this excited about a car in a very long time and hope to have a lot of fun with this one.

Don't mind the crappy wheels they are the first thing to go, some grey centered 5 spokes and a major attiude adjustment are first on the list for the make over.

  2. I had a 56 150 wagon. One of the few cars I really wish I had never sold.

  5. Awesome score, Rudy.

Love two door wagons. I had a '57 two door a few years back, but mine was a Ford.

My first cars were wagons. A '55 Nomad and a '56 Chevy 4 door running a 394 Olds and Hydro. First long distance hauling and comfort, they're hard to beat.

Hey ! There's nothing wrong with being an old man or driving a tri-five station wagon. Nice looking wagon.
We've enjoyed our 55 Chevy handman more than any other car we've had. It's hard to explain but it does what it was originally built for and is fun to drive.

Looks great. I've had lot of cars and trucks but am having more fun with my old man's 62 wagon. It's a big, comfortable highway cruiser.

  12. I could live with that. NO PROBLEM!!

That color combination is actually Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige. My Nomad was originally that color combination.

For reference, you can look here

    http://www.57classicchevy.com/body-colors.html

Sierra Gold was offered '56-'58. Aztec Bronze was a '66 color.

Examples of '56, '57 & '58 Chevrolets with Sierra Gold paint

Wagons have really taken off, I'd love to have one. Beautiful car with a very nice color on it. Good score.

All of this takes time. Sure beats the choices most people have today----white, silver, or grey!

Very nice. Wagons have morphed into surfer wagons not grocery getters. My younger brother in Laguna Beach has talked about getting a '57 Chevy 2-dr wgn for years. Very cool.

Very nice Rudy. Have fun with it.

  27. Looks like the officail color to me thanks.

Really thinking about doing the interior with Bel Air style, Only the Nomad wagon would have had that in the two door, But it is way nicer than the 210 interior.

The 2-door handyman wagon was the working man's utility vehicle, pick up truck, mini van, van, grocery getter, and family car.
Mine belonged to a local plumber. Even had small pipe fittings under the seats and spare tire compartment. In fact if you looked closely you could see a butt crack indentation in the driver seat. ;)

  30. cool wagon! need to get my 55 pontiac 2dr. wgn. going to haul take the grandkids along.
