    Since the numbers are true serials, number of digits depends on the car sequence for 18's. One of them is stamped *18-1*...
    B numbers (AB 0r B stamping) began at 5,000,000 since they were considered part of the mOdel A family and continued that basic series of numbers. And of course the purpose of the stars and the - was to prevent people from adding digits. Stamp font was also a Ford oddity so the hardware store could not provide satisfactory stamps for thieves...

    Big trucks, not pickup types, at this time would have been BB18 (or maybe it was 18BB), only a few built in 1932, or BB for the normal bangers, and the actual number was in same sequence as passenger with only prefix changing. Earliest B's were AB and truck equivalent, changed to just B and BB fairly early in production.

    I repeat...the GOOD thing about the assigned number is that it is a government assigned and stamped one that is LEGAL, unlike a do-it-yourself stamping of a Ford number from a flea market title...
