Thanks everyone. I'm too busy moving to respond to everyone, but I appreciate the kind words! We're definitely trying to carry the torch forward for generations to come....

As far as those worried about the space filling up fast, it is definitely a concern. Luckily I bought that back hoe sitting out front, and I will start falling trees and leveling ground behind the shop for a second building this summer.

Also to the guy who asked about 5 acres in Seattle. It's not. I'm an hour north of Seattle now. Glad to be out of the city. It's not the place I grew up in.

Trust me guys, nobody is happier than me to see @Hitchhiker finally situated in his own place. There's stuff in those pictures I've helped move five times! And as my back constantly reminds me, I'm no 38-year-old. :D

Awesome looking place! You scored big time! Congrats.

If budget is a concern, another expansion option would be to extend the front (light green) building forward. Move the current front wall w/doors to the edge of the slab, then extend the side walls and roof. This would essentially double the size of that building with material cost amounting to only 2 side walls and a roof, and saves the costs of a large concrete pour as someone already fronted you the slab.
Additionally, a shed roof could be added down the length of the left side (to the slab edge) for storage. The shed extension itself could be fully enclosed down the road if you chose to.
    Enjoy the new place!

HAHAHA… I haven't moved the stuff quite 5 times , but I am guilty of helping fill the new shop up and what he calls the cabin - which I prefer to call the "wheel house".

Congrats Matt! Let's see, if I do my math right "hour north of Seattle" you're one of those north end hillbillies now! Hey wait a minute, I resemble that remark! My neck of the woods?

Depends where and what time you leave Seattle. Could take you an hour just to get out of town even without all the construction.

When I think of how we used to change engines and transmissions on cold city streets moving the floor jack around on cobble stone streets and what I have now keeps me very grateful..

  16. Nice work. You might want to consider a drop in time for your shop. One that I know of is Tuesday at noon, another is Monday at 3. It concentrates your visitors/helper visits. It is great for networking and sharing. It is great to hear the old stories from the original guys. Build it and they will come. I hope to finish mine up in time for a Christmas shop party.

Im a little older but not much. The building looks great, and full on commitment to the addiction is recognized.
Only advice is to stay on track. Dont get too many builds going, with the new space don't fill it with "someday ****". Limit all parts to current cars, current build, and 1 future build.

Congratulations @Hitchhiker on the new shop and relocation further north of Seattle. Now that I am retired, we are getting very serious about selling our house here in the Ballard neighborhood and relocating to Anacortes, great scenery, great town.

I currently have 6 cars going right now. A 34 pickup, 31 model A roadster x 2, 55 Ford coupe, 74 econoline and a 72 chevelle getting an engine. 99% of the parts inside are for sale and not for a specific car. People tell me all the time to focus on 1 or only work on one car at a time. but what do I do when I am waiting for parts or the machine shop....I work on another car. It probably helps that I have an eidetic memory. But I totally understand where the advice is coming from!

    3200 sq.ft.!!
That’s what dreams are made of.
It’s good to know that there are a few young(er) guys still gettin’ after it, with the ambition and enthusiasm inherent with their age.
At 74, it’s frustrating to find and feel yourself having to physically slow down when your brain is still 38!
    Full steam ahead, young man!

Man you're pretty much living the dream as far as I'm concerned. It's good to still see stories like yours in this world we live in today. Keep up the good work, fortune is smiling upon you!!
