I'm trying to get a hold of this sweet '39 sedan and I can't come up with the cash without selling my car. It's not the one you guys are thinking of... It's my car from my muscle car days, when I was into the fastest street car shootout thing. I haven't drove it for years and it just sits and takes up space.

Here is the problem.. I can't find a buyer. I've tried e-bay without success. Do you guys know of a place where I could advertise this thing?

Here is the link to some pics of it:

Thanks for any and all help!

Nobody cares unless you're selling the coupe. :)

    Just kidding. Good luck.

I find that Ebay is a pretty good guage of a cars real world value. Maybe your asking too much. I've listed a few cars on ebay, some too low others too high. If its a really sought after car you will be over loaded with emails asking how much to end the auction, then you can aim high and see what plays out. Other times, when it comes down to the last hour or so and nobody is anywhere close to what you want, your probably too high. I reconsidered what I was willing to take and emailed the high bidder after the auction ended and we came up with a price that worked. Ebay is going to be the best exposure you can get. If you want to try other sites though, give www.cars-on-line.com a try.

    Thanks Gary...

I have the same feelings you do about e-bay, however, I'm not going to sell a car that I have close to $70,000 in for $9500. I'm not looking to break even, I know I can't do that. This car has value to someone... I just have to find the guy... (there is an ass for every seat).

I'm asking around $25,000 and the price is NOT firm. Do a favor for me will ya? Read the discription below and then tell me what you guys think it's worth. Am I asking too much?

1967 Camaro RS 540 CI. BIG BLOCK 8 SECOND STREET LEGAL RACE CAR

You are bidding on a 1967 ralley sport Camaro that was featured in Camaro Performers Magazine winter 2004. This car was purpose-built to set the local street legal 1/4 mile track record. This car set the record back in 1999 ( 8.99 et @ 154 mph at 4700 feet altitude ) and was street driven for a few months and has been parked since. The car performes excellent on the street, on the freeway or in heavy traffic. The engine and transmission were removed, freshend up and reinstalled with the intent to regain the track's title, but I have since developed other interests.

The car is an original RS Camaro with steel doors, trunk lid, header panel and front valance, factory glass and factory interior. Modifications to the body include: two fiberglass hoods (one is a 3 1/2" cowl with a hole for the carbs and one is a 4 1/2" cowl with no hole), 4" stretched rear fiberglass quarterpanels, fiberglass fenders that have been bonded to the fiberglass wheel wells to give a factory 'steel' apearance. Extensive effort went into the body work on this car especially the front fenders. They use all of the factory mounting holes, hood hinges and hood latch and the body gaps and lines are PERFECT. The casual observer would not be able to tell that the front fenders are fiberglass. The car has a hand made aluminium rear wing. The car is painted black with white Z-28 stripes and has blue peral in the clear coat.

Modifications to the chassis include: Modified stock lower front control arms that allow the use of an adjustable coil over shock, an Art Morrison 4-link rear clip, frames have been connected with 2x3 tubbing, 9" ford with back brace, Strange aluminium center section, Richmond gears (3:50), Detroit locker, Strange 31 spline axles, Chassisworks anti-roll bar, Mark Williams driveshaft, yokes and wheel drive studs, Willwood disc brakes on all 4 corners, Hurst roll control, Koni coil over shocks front and rear, 14-point roll cage, Art Morrision wheelie bars, poly bushings on the front suspension, spherical rod ends on the rear suspension, Cragar Super Lite wheels (15x3.5 front and 15x15 rear), Hoosier 33x22.50-15 rear tires (DOT approved), Mickey Thompson 26x7.50-15 front tires,

Safety items include: Diest 8 point harnesses (Driver and Passenger), Diest window net, Simpson chute

Engine and trans: The engine is a 540 ci. BBC from Sonny's racing engines. It has dyno'ed at 959.8 hp @ 7600 rpm with 723.6 lb-ft torque @ 6500 rpm without nitrous. Bowtie low deck engine block, O-ringed block, ARP studs, Dart stage 2 heads (extensive flow benck work, 385 cc), Manley severe duty stainless valves, 10 degree titanium retainers, Holley Dominator 2x4 intake (extensive flow bench work), Crane roller cam (794 lift / 286 duration intake 740 lift / 296 duration exhaust), Crane roller rockers (1.7 ratio), Crane stud girdles, Callies Stelth 5140 crankshaft (4.25" stroke), Crower steel connecting rods(6.386 / 2.200), Venolia 14:1 pistons (4.5" bore) with taper wall pins, Titan billet oil pump, Oberg oil filter, Moroso oil pressure accumulator, Moroso oil pan, , hand made headers (2 3/8" primary tubes, 4 1/2" collectors, HPC coated inside and out), hand made exhaust (exits at the rear of the car, Flowmaster mufflers, the entire exhaust system is 4 1/2" in diameter and is HPC coated inside and out), CSI electric water pump, Griffin radiator, MSD billet distributor, 2 seperate fuel systems (one for the carbs, one for the nitrous). The engine's fuel system consists of a Harwood 15 gallon fuel cell with sender, -12 AN fittings and fuel feed line to the Barry Grant BG400 fuel pump, -10 AN fittings and lines to the Barry Grant 4-port regulator, -6 AN fittings and lines to the two Holley 1050 cfm Dominator carbs. The seperate nitrous fuel system consists of a hand made 2 gallon aluminum fuel tank, -12 AN fittings and lines to the Magnaflow Quick Star 275 fuel pump, -8 AN fittings and lines to a Magnaflow regulator and -6 AN fittings and lines to the nitrous solenoids. The nitrous system consists of a 500 hp NOS Pro Fogger System, 2 safety nitrous solenoids, 2 purge solenoids, NOS progressive controler, bottle warmer and blanket. TCI TH400 transmission, transbrake, reverse manual valve body, GER torque converter (furnace brazed with ballon plates, 3500 stall),
Hurst Quarterstick shifter, remote rear mounted transmisison cooler with electric fan.

Electronics and instruments: Auto Meter silver face gagues: tach, oil pressure, water temperature and oil temperature. MSD multi step retard, MSD 7AL-2, MSD 2 step module selector, (2) MSD rpm module selectors, MSD retard module selector, MSD rpm activated switch and an NOS time based progressive controler.

Vehicle condition: The car has been street driven BUT is still show quality and shows very little wear. The roll cage has a few paint chips and the front tires need to be replaced. The front fenders above the Camaro emblems show a bit of shrinkage. The driver's door has a door ding below the lock cylinder and the chute pack is sun faded. All in all, the car is in very good shape.

Spare parts: 2 Mickey Thompson E/T street DOT approved tires (33x18.5x15) mounted on Cragar Super Lite wheels (15x15) , 1 spare nitrous bottle, Poly rod ends for the rear suspension (installed when street driven), AVO rear coil over shocks (installed when street driven), rear springs, 4/12" cowl hood (no hole)

damn, you put 70,000 dollars into a rs camaro?

that's alot of money. now are you including your own labor time or is that just in parts cost?

i could see the problem of selling it now. but i'm sure there is someone out there that wants a balls to the wall car. that car is awesome.

  12. That car is a bargain at 25k!

If I had the money... I'd buy it, pull the motor for my '55 and then sell the car with another motor.

I dig the car, but what I'm getting at is that you can never get wat you put into motors, back out of them... used speed equipment sells for pennies on the dollar.

I'm blown away someone hasn't bought it though...

LP, too bad its not a mopar. I just sold a '69 Charger with a blown 440. perfect body. the owner wanted 25k ended up getting 30K, and had offers of more after the sale. And I know he made a good profit. Your price seems very good if not a little low for what it is, maybe just bad timing. Did you qualify to relist for free or cheap on ebay? I always list for 10 days starting on a thursday or friday night. That way you get 2 weekends of shoppers. Also take some good pics in an area where there is no clutter in the background. I usually go to the local airport and take them in front of the AV fuel pumps and a few on the runway numbers, I think it looks cool. Another good spot is on the upper level of an empty parking garage. If you don't have a good dig. camera it might be worth hiring someone. I also use the 24 pics option on ebay. the Pics are the most important part, more so then the description. Good luck.

With the popularity of the early F bodies I find it hard to see why it did not sell on Ebay. Did you only list it one time ???? If so I think I would try it again just for the hell of it.

  17. LP..theres no mention of if the chassis is still NHRA certified..you know thats a selling point...

Umm. No offense, Loud Pedal, but this just looks to me like you're trying to put a plug in, in a backdoor way, to see if anyone here on the HAMB would wanna buy your car. You know it's technically not eligible for sale on the HAMB classifieds, so you've sneaked in an ad right here. Very devious methinks.

Sorry, that was not my intent. I guess I should have asked for your opinion before I started this thread. I'll remove the thread if you think I should..

Just little old me trying to build my Hotrod collection...

There's no way you are asking too much for that car. Anyone who has built ANYTHING close to it knows you just can't be too high. It's a shame because every year you see cars like this started that end up the same way, FOR SALE, at a fraction of the build cost. This would be such a bargin for someone wanting to go drag racing and get a huge BANG for their buck. It's interesting that the next owner won't take anywhere near the loss your willing to absorbe and he won't have to go through the pain and aggravation of building it.
I feel your pain and wish you the best on finding a buyer.

Oh, I don't care. I thought it was kind of funny. Anyway, I'll second the collectorcartrader thing. I look there a lot and even bought once.

Bought my 1940 Merc from an ad there... Highly recommend. [IMG]

  27. That thing is wicked - you should have no problem moving that. Take it to some drag races and put for sale signs on it while you turn some 9's. It won't last long and you'll get to race it some more. It is a shame to let it sit. You sure you won't miss that thing????

Thanks for showing it to us. I would be in heaven if I had that in my stable. jeez - 25K - for all that? I'm sure I'll kicking myself for not getting a loan and suffering through 3 years of payments and complaints from my wife. It would still be worth it.

I agree with Gahi's first post, and this one as well. Well said. Let me tell you this, and don't take it too personally. I think the car is a good value at 25K, but your pictures of it suck ass. All the pictures you had posted above are dark and shadowy, very few show the whole car, and the ones that do are on the shadow side so it's hard to see, some funny angles and overly cropped pics, just bad. Again, don't take that the wrong way, I'm a terrible photographer myself, but for a big money car like that, you should have some nice, clear, bright pictures with a clean background and arrange your pics in a logical order. I bet with some better photos of that mo-chine you'd do a lot better on eBay and other markets. Good pictures sell product. My two cents.

I can see the pics fine... not to dark, so he must be on a PC... :D

They tend to do that... $25k is cheap for that, and I understand why you asked here no matter what VW boy says .... I'd try eBay again, you should be able to list for free again... I'd also try all the F-Body club boards as well as those devoted to Street Car Shootouts... It's a bargain for someone looking to get into it... Do you have all the receipts? If so say it in the add... A car like that is going to take a bit to sell, but there is an ass for that seat...:D
