Fuck, makes me embarrassed to have the name Al.

  9. I tried the screen method, but it just made more rust. It kept the 'skeeters outa my fender though.

Al and I did all the body work on my high school ride - '73 Pinto runabout.....drivers side repairs were already rustin' again b4 we finished the repairs on the passenger side. My mustache was curlier than that in '76 though......good times, good times.

I don't see any problem with making repairs this way for the average Moe without any specialized knowledge or tools just to keep their heap on the road another couple of years. I'm sure no one would use these techniques on their 32 3 window.

Come on guys, fess up, anyone who grew up in the rust belt has done that (or worse) to a daily driver just to get it inspected and squeeze another year out of it, but I can't imagine making a video about it. What bothered me the most was the band aid he put on that Jeep in a badly rusted area that supports the ROLL BAR! He'd probably use the same method on a frame repair!
Aside from that though it was funny, ball peen hammer for a body hammer, the hand gestures (looked like he was sprinkling holy water), telling you not to get dust in the vents, then just sands right over them, not to mention masking the window rubber on the VW AFTER he scratches it up with the sandpaper, etc, etc, etc.
BUT, my time was not wasted, I learned how to make a great mixing pallet by coating a cardboard box in bondo!:D

I am sure that video is from 1984. I bet he can repair some drywall like nobody's business.

Wow I think this guy did some of the "repair work" on my '53 Bel Air. I found the floor under my feet riveted as was the trunk pan. to top it off there was a 1/2 thick coat of bondo on my quarter panels

This should be shown in public schools as what not to do..

  23. I was buyin' it until I saw the screen wire and dental floss.

Years ago when I was a kid, a wire welder was dreamware that was talked about but no one had actually seen one, much less used one.

Coat hangers and a #1 brazing tip.

  24. My favorite part was when he was taping the rag to his head to keep sand out of his hair while sandblasting.

I can't believe everyone is so harsh on this guy, it's obvious that he got the tape a little too tight. Poor little feller...
