If that was my car I wouldn’t repaint it and I just would use it with that interior…

that’s actually a pretty nice design for that era…nice looking car.

I like this plan, but my wife wants something more 1950s, maybe an original pastel 1955 Pontiac color.
    The interior is horrible.

  8. I vote lace as well, since I did a little on my car I want to put it on everything…

    "The interior is horrible."

Dye the red piping black (or retrim in black). Replace the red diamond inserts with 1" white tuck and roll.

How does this great stuff fall in your lap ? (unsaid part is "you lucky bastard")

From long experience, get it running and driving and put a year's worth of miles on it before investing in paint and interior. A friend of mine spent the bucks on an A-on-Deuce build and then found he really didn't fit into it and his wife told him riding in a roadster wasn't as much fun as he imagined; sold it soon at a loss.

I had originally gone to see a Facel Vega HK500 that was for sale on Craigslist. When I got there it was sold. It was a rusty mess missing the drivetrain and almost all the trim. I wasn’t going to buy it but I thought there might be some spares for my FV4.
These other two cars were in the warehouse when I got there and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The seller knew hardly anything about them. the white car is a 1953 Allard Palm Beach and is powered by a British Ford Zephyr Six engine. The body is aluminum and was a real mess.
The chassis had been redone and it had an early Ford front end. It was way too big a project for me to tackle, and aluminum is not something my meager abilities can tackle.
It sold to a guy in St. Augustine. The Facel Vega is on eBay right now.
The cars came from the M Collection, it was a high end bar with an amazing collection of cars. These were just some of the “extras” that were laying around.
I’m not gonna say much, but several months ago the place had tax lien notices on the building and everything inside was seized.

The collection was liquidated to pay back taxes.

The owner, Tim Majors, has a bit of a history that you can Google. F4EA56AE-73FD-4617-BD07-1217F3842C83.jpeg 6DC3DF26-E499-4109-8094-52710D031E9D.jpeg B1001CD3-9D33-4821-8EAA-07AF1ADCE60F.jpeg

It's a tight fit for me, but perfect for my wife, and shockingly, she loves it.

Speaking of Facel Vegas (well, sorta), I bought this 1959 HK500 for $7800. I fixed the rear bumper and the rear end, got the 383 running better and considered restoring it. It should have a new leather interior, Wilton wool carpets, etc. Thought it would cost too much money and all along I wanted one with a hemi. I had it a couple of years and eventually sold it for $8500.

A couple of years ago I saw it in an auction report. It was in much worse shape with absolutely nothing done to it in 30+ years. It sold for $213,000. Oh, well.

This is my ‘58 FV 4 with a 354 dual quad Hemi. I bought this as a non runner a while back. It’s on the road now.

Cool. Hope your keeping the pontiac motor. Yes those modern bucket seats need to go.

  23. Too cool, Nads! I've never seen one of those before but I like the lines....very suave. That rear axle is definetely a Pontiac/Olds from the 50s.
I also run early Pontiac V/8s. In my coupe is a 57 Pontiac bored to 370 and the engine/trans in the foreground is a 55 engine with it's 4 speed hydro. 34with55engineingarage7_22.jpg

The Allard is rough but it sure is neat. Looks tiny though.

The best way to stumble onto deals is to go and look at stuff. Doesn't even have to be the thing you went to look at.

That’s way cool. This is my first experience with a Pontiac engine. It’s missing the road draft tube, is a ‘57 unit the same? Also the Edelbrock valve covers have no oil fill hole. I might have to get original valve covers, what years are interchangeable? I’ll need more advice as I dig in.

    Thanks in advance.

Don't know if it would help but as of today there is a '60 Corvette frame for sale here in Lawton, OK.
