And i liked it alot...but does anyone have any pictures of a real Hudson Hornet?? Is anyone driving one?? I didnt know that it was a real car that held alot of wins in Nascar until recently when i looked it up on the internet...i thought they were trying to pull a fast one...and i was wrong....
I loved it, then my wife pointed out that it was "Doc Hollywood" in animation.. Did any one else notice that?
I'm holding out on getting the DVD. I'll tell you why... there's hardly any special features on this first release. In this day and age, every movie production knows it needs to generate content for the DVD- especially Pixar. I know they're sitting on a stockpile of good shit (real life Car build up by Eddie Paul, interviewing the real Mater in NC that the character is based on, the Pixar car shows, etc.) and just put out this first disc to generate some cash while the iron is hot. I'll bet WildWilly's left nut that a crazy ass 2 or 4 disc "Special Limited Ultra" edition comes out within the next few months.
[I got a copy from a client hee who is the local agent, tried to watch it with the kids on Sat night, my 20 month old boy was able to sit still in front of Hot Rod (1979) the other day for at least 40 min making Hemi noises, but you think the two of them could sit still for this.... will need to watch it again by myself to really soak up the finer features as per usual wit animation there is lots going on at various levels and in the back ground..... you can see that car folk were involved too
Mines a forerunner of the Hornet but same chassis and has a Hornet engine. 49 Commodore that originally came with a inline 8 splasher engine but was a straight foward swap to the later 308 twin-H Nascar ruler. Lot of neat features on the Hudsons with the "stepdowns" being the first truly new car to come out of Detroit after the war. Wet clutch is a neat deal, clutch disc has a bunch of corks glued in it and runs in oil. Ran up to the Hamb Drags from Tulsa this year and 75-80 mph was no problem even in 100*temps.
It was my sons first movie in the theater and one I bought as soon as it came out on dvd... Great movie! Check out this like for some sweet info: http://www.legendsofnascar.com/Hudson.htm
I saw a guy on ebay selling hornet parts and he had pics of one he built just like the race car in the movie. Somewhere out there is an exact replica of the faux nascar hudson hornet. CHAZ
I was able to take my 2 year old grand son to the movie. His first or so I thought, lol my son took him the week before but didn't tell me, thought it would hurt my feelings We picked up the DVD and I have seen it 7 times now, he really likes it. Did I mention we purchased it last Saturday? 7 TIMES!
My Momma went to Hudson High School in North Carolina. Their team? You guessed it- The Hudson hornets.
I bought the DVD tonight, brought it home and watched it for the first time with my 2 and 4 year old boys. It was Great!!! Popcorn and all! I just wish I would have gone to the Drive-In this past summer to see it! Great Movie!
I bought a copy for my daughter the other day. We havent watched it yet and she wont leave me alone until we do.
It was my 4 year old daughters first time at the movies too. We got the DVD last Sunday afternoon. Guess what we did the rest of the day?
Thanks for the pic Ramblur...I'm going to have to find one of these cars and see it in person...my youngest daughter and i have watched it a bunch of times since we bought it and you just keep finding new things...one of the things that is cool to me is the way they got the neon lights to pop on the screen...looks real to me..i think it would have been a blast to cruise your car down a street where the neon lights reflected out of the paint job.
It was my 4 y.o. Son's first movie at the Theater as well. Great Movie, cool story line. Jivebomber let us in on a lot of secrets already, like the aircleaner building in Carburetor Springs, and the lights on the drive in that "fire" to a flatty's ignition, bunch of cool stuff like that in it. My Son took over the OSR mag that has the Mater build, say what you will but I will be taking my kid to check out the real cars, he's gonna FLIP!
I have one, (A '53) but except that 3 or 4 blocks at the end of a 10 foot tow strap, I haven’t driven it. Work/Life/Kids have kind of put it in suspended animation in my garage. But when the garage is open, the younger kids that walk by now say “Dad, it’s a Hudson Hornet. Just like Doc Hudson!” instead of “Look at the old car, Dad!”.
I have never seen any Hudsons in my area...i guess that is why i had never heard about them...are they a rare car cuz the crusher got them all...or are they just stashed well out of site??
We took our kids to the theater to see it. My daughter is four and son is three. They loved it, in fact my daughter decided that she would get it for my son for Christmas. The movie was great, it made the kids happy and was put together really well so us 'adults-who still play with cars' could enjoy it. The thing that really supprized me was the rubber 'marbles' on the track surface as the cars were going by, I had to explain them to my wife and kids. As far as Hudsons, my fathers neighbor is a member of some Hudson group and has been having Hudson get togethers/pic nics at his house since I was a kid. They are great cars and make fantastic customs too. My understanding is that the cleaned up the area until the ohv Olds came into play.
we went to see it at the drive in....LOVED it!.....my little girl named every member of our family after the charcters....... funny i saw this......i had to listen to it for an hour in the van on the way to a store........for an hour on the way back and she just watched the whole thing ......hmmmm maybe she watched too much......anyway... great movie...
You gotta bet the right one...the left one is on its way to Fiddy's house UPS Express .....yeah I bought the movie too. It's just killer...anyone who grew up on Rt66 and travelled it a lot (especially us "youngins") should really be touched by parts of the movie...I was Bill
Smokey Yunick ran Hornets in NASCAR. At that time the factory had to supply engineers to tear down the winning car, because all parts had to be verified as factory. In true Smokey form he cast his own camshaft , complete with factory part number, and ground it so the engine ran backwards for more torque coming out of a turn. When Smokey won the factory guy never realised the engine ran backwards.
I just watched the DVD with my kids, well 3 times in a row, and I had to go on the web to see if the racing hornet was real too... Great movie, I liked it as much or more than the kids did.
anybody notice the mountains behind Radiator Springs? they are all caddy tail-fins kinda like cadillac ranch.....pretty cool.
