good thing about the horse shoe staying put..but i would not take that chance again ..flying projectiles in an accident can do some serious damage to ones head. or others.

Glad you and your son are OK ! I don't have a bunch of extra parts laying around but I do have a couple of trans coolers. One is a radiator type still new in the box and the other is the finned tube ( I think 15 inches). Drop me a PM with your street address and your preference of coolers and I will send it along. I wish it was more but it is a start. Anybody else got something laying around that Monzadood needs to get back on the road?

I too am glad you and your son wasn't seriously injured. Things like this suck. Take some time off, in a few weeks you'll be missing the truck and you can start to get it back on the road. This happened to me several years ago, right after the wreck, I didn't even want to think about working on my car, but after a few weeks of not even seeing it, I really missed it. Got it back on the road a month later.

    Just don't give up.

You have the right idea. Put the truck away until YOU are ready to tackle it again.

I'm so sorry man...I know how this feels as I did the same thing to my '56 years ago. The scenario of being waved into traffic by someone else has been a sure cause of accidents every time I've seen it...I just never trust the other driver anymore. I witnessed an accident where a girl was nearly killed due to this... Thank the Lord you and your son are OK. The truck will be there when you're ready to go back to it. You and it have a history...you have to keep it - fix it up when your outlook changes, until then love your son and life like there's no tomorrow. Not too many people walk away from a head-on. Blessings bro...

Dude that sucks. I have that S-10 chassis I got from you if you want it if you don't want to cut Jim's up.

If you want a custom headlight treatment, I have a couple sets of 59 Lincoln quad headlights and a grille you can have. That would be the shiznit on that truck.

glad you're both o.k. and you're gonna fix the truck.

I'd suggest putting a bumper on when you rebuild it.

First off I'm really relieved that you and your son are OK. Second, no way is that truck TOTALLED. Totalled is where you scrap it after removing the license plate.
Now to the point of my post. I'm going to challenge you to make the FIRST REPAIR the installation of seat belts. I'm not kidding about it being the first. If you don't do it chances are you'll get the truck back on the road, make a couple of test runs to check it out and drive off with no seat belts. After that it will be "I'm going to get to that one of these days", followed by posting how your boy just went through the windshield when you have a real totalling accident. Not often you get a wake up call of this magnatude. Take advantage and do the right thing...................NOW!!!!
Do a tech thread on the seatbelt installation during Tech Week. there are a lot of these trucks here and it might make someone else who has been putting it off install some in their ride.

Frank is dead on....I didn't know you were running without them. My dad always told me a stroy about his buddy cracking his head on the dash in their '55 Bel Air because he didn't have a seat belt and needing 20 stitches and never being right in the head after that. They're easy to install...and worth every penny.

Frank is right. That said glad to see you guys are OK, that is easily one of my fav trucks ever, real mean looking. The + side is that it was already an S10 frame, this is where it counts with easy to obtain parts! Hope it goes well!

    Monzadood,

Glad to hear no one was hurt. I will keep my eyes peeled for some parts as I am just north of you. Keep your chin up and replace one piece at a time as you can afford it. You will get back on the road.

    Monza-
Many a bitchin ride has been built out of the ashes of catastrophe.

Keep the faith. and remember, if You get so pissed at it You hit it with a hammer...hit something that was already screwed. that way it's just therapy. :D

  29. The cool thing about this thread is within 24 hours, monzadood went from not wanting to touch the truck to seemingly enthusiastic about it's next incarnation...

    Amazing what encouragement does, eh?

Hey monza... Sorry bro for your situation but your truck was sweet and I think you can use this negative as a positive now and make the truck even hotter... Glad you and your son are OK. Good luck with everything... Keep your head up.
