    but there will be!

Okay team, my car is kind of getting finished up. Not done-done, but its on the right path. Right now its at a good friend's house, who is gonna be slinging some mud and shooting some good, sealed primer on it. Nothing exciting, but its a step in the right direction.

I've now got rounded door corners and a couple of other goodies done. Expect pics in a couple of weeks when I get the car back and ready to throw it back together.

It may get scalloped too, thats still up in the air, but regardless, I shouldn't be posting this so soon, but I just figured I'd give you folks a heads-up before I photobomb the group in a couple of weeks.

    Thanks for readin'!

[IMG] excuse the size, but this is a couple of weeks ago. Look at all that paint! Just to tempt some of you. Also, excuse that damned hipster, one of these days I'll learn to get out of my sisters path when she has a camera.

Deal! I'll shoot you a pic that should be usable for side shots. I'm really up in the air for what I want, so you'll have full artistic range.

Okay, no more pics. The car is out of my immediate location, but I do have updates!

All the metal work is done, and the car is getting blocked right now. It's gonna be dp48lf after the next round of blocking. The top is gonna be pearl white, with a bunch of pearl in it. I'll have pics of the.kind of finished product within the end of the mint, ' cause I'll have to throw the interior back in to make the indy world of wheels.
Anyway, just thought I'd update you guys

Got my car today, some quick shots after the drive (not quite) home.

I'll get them off my phone and onto my computer after I finish with this shower!

    I'm a tease!
Anyway, you'd think that being nineteen and used to technology that I could easily find my pictures in my phone. Nope! Second time this has happened, I found'em though, just gotta be smarter than the phone.

Not the greatest pi**x, my phone camera sort of throws a slight blue tint onto stuff, but besides that they're good.

there will be more shots as I get my car actually put back together.

I'll probably end up paneling the top, depending on what goes down over the next month or so financially

Things I like, the car looks good.
Things I don't like, I'm bad at taking pictures when I'm trying to do a million things, and white primer was a bad choice for a lazy guy like me. oh well, looks good anyway.

I drove it like it sits, and I was surprised no cop noticed the lack of bumpers, headlights, or turn signals! Oh well, like I said, more pi**x2come.

Yep , looking good there . When I was your age we did a lot worst things with our cars than you just did . Many times we drove around at night with no tags on the car ! yes we did do some really stupid things back in the 1970's but we were young and didn't car . We were indispensable , at least we thought we were . The crazy things we did with our cars were really stupid but was crazy and fun as well . We would drive around with no lights on for miles at night or come up on a hill in the other lane , in the daytime , just to see how bad *** you really were . I was very lucky I never got hurt or hurt someone else . Of course there was a heck of a lot less cars on the roads than today . So yes we did a lot of street racing but had special roads where the 1/4 mile was marked off for the night time drags .
Just don't do what we did and enjoy that car !

So what do your friend think of you driving an old hotrod instead of the usual tuners they drive ?

Thanks! Yeah, I've a bunch of big plans for this car, so I doubt it'll ever be done. Maybe after college I'll have done everything that is planned for the car, but regardless I'll be selling a kidney before I part with this car.

@Retro Jim, I'm sure 53vicky and myself will have a similar response, so if he wants to chime in too, do it!

I think a funny thing is happening with kids now that "vintage" is in. That is just my age group in general, though they don't understand that it isn't "just a car", and that it has limitations and it isn't disposable like a lot of their cars.

With the ricer set, I don't really talk much with those guys. I work with a guy that was into ricers and 5.0 mustangs, but now he's trying to find some vintage tin to work on. At the local saturday cruise-spot, there are a lot of tuner style cars, but in the past couple of years a lot of nice cars have been showing up too, so there is a shift in the rational of car people. Vintage tin is in, after all. I dunno, I'm also lucky enough to have a few friends my age that are into cars too, so we try and keep everyone pumped up about their cars and stuff.

I will say this, going to school, and working all the time, gets old. Free time is at an all time low, but I'd do it no other way.

I'm VERY lucky to get a shot at doing this, and to have the network of friends that I have.

I have seen a few of the people your age ask about the old cars and ask are they hard to find parts for or fix and so on . I tell them that there are plenty to go around and to sit behind the wheel and look over the dash as you cruise down the road is just something special that only you can find out about by doing it . It takes you back to a time when people were much nicer , friendly , helpful and had tons of ambition . It was a special time that will and can never be repeated no mater what you do . Those times were so much fun and you just had to live through all the car times up to about the mid 1970's when everything just fell apart and never returned . It was when history was at it's best and the country was a much better place to live .
Still I tell them they can get onto this great life style for a few thousand and drive down the road in style . They make just about any part to fix your cars and if not they can be made by hand or by someone else for you . You build your car the way you want to and it will look like no other ! You can use the original engine , swap another old engine in your car or put a modern engine under the hood . That is up to you . You also have lots of room for your friend to ride around in your car with unlike the cars of today .
So yes I do see them popping up here and there more now because they are finding out you don't need a huge wad a cash to build a car . They saw the street rods and were told the price it cost to build them so they figure they can't enjoy that way of life and to own an old car . Now they see you don't need to build a street rod to have fun . Building a hotrod or kustom is something totally different and affordable .
You will be making that car special for just you for many , many years to come . That is what is so great about it . Making your car the way you want it is so much fun to do and nobody will have one like yours either and it will be easy to find in the parking lot !

Can't wait to see how your car turns out one day . Make sure you take tons of pictures to show your children one day !

    M***ive picture.

anyway, I just thought I'd update this a little bit. Things aren't going that fast, and its okay. Life has been getting in the way, and school has been a *******. Oh, I also started dating this girl, but everything is settling down, and I'm really busting *** on this little guy trying to get it glued back together by next week to drive it for a month or so, and then throw a transmission in it.

More pi**x as it gets put back together.

  24. ha ha! "i also started dating this girl" you know what that means?.. "you care about that car more than you care about me"!!! i'm just kidding with ya! the car is looking great!

Yeah, the thing with her is, I'm pretty sure she realizes that my car is a lot more important. Shes kinda neat though too.

I figure that by Sunday it'll actually be at my house with all of the trim on and ready to drive. Put the front bumper on, my grille in, my headlights in, get the rest of my trim back and on, throw mercury spears on the quarter (thats the time consuming part) and then just throw the back half of the interior in.

Next month that top is getting fogged or something, and I'm 90% sure a t-5 is going in it.

Thanks! Alot of the boring stuff had to be done before any real forward progress could be done. Drilling trim holes, new door gaskets, taking things apart that I never planned on taking apart (I'm talking to you inside door switches).

Forget summer cruising! I want spring cruising! ahha I figure by next week I'll be able to drive it for a minute or two!

my wife understands the car thing. she wishes i would put power steering on mine so she could drive it, but i dont see the room. the water pump pulley is about an inch away from the radiator as it is now. i have pusher fans, and they have done a geat job last summer keeping temps in the 180 range. anybody know if a 53 steering wheel will fit an ididt tilt column? i have a small grant banjo wheel on there now, and like the looks of it, but man is it a ******* to turn when stopped.

Pump a lot more air in the front tires and that will also help out . If you have wide tire , go get skinny ones . There are some 15" metal flake steering wheels from Speedway . I don't think the stock wheel will fit but all you have to do is try and see if it does or not !
