Ok its time to show off those rotund asses. Im starting to get into some detail work on my 40, and one of the areas I'm having a problem with is the rear of the car. I'm fussing over where to mount my licence plate. I have my club plaque mounted to the left side on top of the bumper bracket (not shown in pic). Thought about mounting down below the rear valance but think it might look too... well street roddy. Lets see those shaved asses, I'd like to see how some of you might have done it without the rear looking cluttered. Thanks.

I also was thinking in the middle of the valnce panel but thought it might be abscured by the bumper....but looking at that pic after I posted it might not be.

I mounted mine just below the deck lid. The pic is not that good but you can see the position of the plate to the deck lid.

If you want it slick ,why not make a window in the decklid and put it behind the glass. That would keep the lines clean.

  14. My least favorite plate location by far is in the trunklid.

I'm putting mine under the car, most likely with a retractaplate kit.

Dammnn!! Now thats what Im talkin bout. A couple of those fine specimans ridin in the back seat= instant taildragger!

  16. That's not a thong its a pup tent and that big rear makes it look like a thong.
I knew there was a reason I didn't like cottage cheese.

Ya might try hangin' it across from the drag plate. But it'll probably get you a ticket.

If we were street rodders we could make it tuck up when parked and drop down below the bumper when cruising.

  17. You don't NEED to be anything to get the license plate out of sight.
    Plates are ug-gah-lee!

This '47 I had ran tri-rib Plymoth bumpers with a Chevy surround. I liked the look.

4Tford Im starting to think thats the way Im gonna go. Right below the Deck lid.

Bonsey I have discussed that style with my bro visor, but Ive come to the conclusion it gives it more of taildragger look. Thanks for the input everyone.

I hope to this coupe. It must be about ready to tear it up like 3-w Larry's coupe if you are mounting a plate. I love 40 coupes!!!

    looks good.

    Man that is one - s w e e t - lookin' car.

Under the decklid is the only place I can see it not detracting from the lines of the car if you keep the stock bumper.

I like it where it was originally mounted.
That way you can add all kinds of stuff
down below. Thats ol' Ron adding more
lines to my 4D's big ass.
Don't run a plate Troy. Just tell the cop when he
pulls you over that 40's didn't come with plates or
    seatbelts.
Hell when I got nailed last year for speeding (imagine that), I was running my old black Cali plates with 72 tags
on them. The highway patrol cop didn't say shit.
But he did give me the speed ticket. That hurt!
