I'll never understand why some of you guys get a woody when you see an old tractor...

I farmed with that ****! do any of you guys know the terms live power?? power take off???? you slug a hay baler and hit the clutch....every thing stops!! I cultivated corn with a 2 row with hillers!! no power steering no live hydraulics

now on the other hand traditional hot rods were fun!!! and girls liked them!!

I too, know all about live hydraulics, live PTO, and the LACK there of. Been there done that too. But I do however enjoy old tractors and machinery as it is a reminder of earlier, simpler times. Its like anything else......modern equipment is MUCH easier to work with.

That's "primal instinct". That's why man parks his old cars in the woods. He can then go out there to visit them and take a nice, peaceful dump.:D
Not sure if this is prevalent in the female gender.

  26. The old tractor is a M Farmall. The tractor pictured was a distilliate burner because of the small gas tank you can see. Also has a dizzy rather than a mag. I have 4 of those M,s They have from 248 to 264 cu in engines. Pretty rugged tractors very hard to break them. Easy to find parts for them also. OldWolf

X2 I lived through the changover to hydraulics and live PTO. It was at a young age but believe me it was a world of difference. Now, the old ways are "charming" but you would never go back. I still use my grandfathers old 8N for mowing but have a freewheeing clutch on the PTO so the damn thing can be stopped while the mower is engaged.
