I like this "A" How Did He Do it?

Like said I like everything about this "A", the wheels, the tires, the stance, the color! Does anyone know this Delivery? Anyone know the tire & wheel sizes? Suspension? Air bags? And last can it be driven as is without to many problems? Thanks

 

I'm thinking that you wouldn't want to make any sharp turns with it...

 

I remember a dark blue one like that with cream coloured Skylark wheels in the 70's magazines. I always liked that look. I doubt that this one is drivable like that but even 1 1/2 or 2 inches higher it would still kick ***.

 

The roads here where i live wouldn't allow you to drive it..

Unchopped, maybe 5" dropped axle, flattened front cross-member.

Maybe one of the new air over I-beam kits.

A little drastic for my taste and really just another spin on the flat-black with red wheels idea. Tired.

 

I don't know how he did it but here's a pretty good recipe-

Reverse eye front spring, 4" dropped axle with a short stack on the springs 4-5 leaves, and a flattened crosmember.
T Spring Rear with the ends kicked. mounted to a Banjo with "A" ends grafted onto a '36-'40 Banjo.
He used Buick wires with probably 60 series and it looks spot on.
If you want to go any lower you'll need to Z or modify the springs to coilover style.

that's a really *****in' car with alot of really great tricks. I have studied that picture for a long time because it's timeless.

It sits like some of Dave Gale's phone booth trucks. Probably no bags, but yes a flattened cross-member. I know Dave's stuff could be driven that low.

Chrome the wheels & it looks like an Early Times car. I love it.

This one is low, but not as low as the delivery.

I might be mistaken. But I believe that pic is from when it was featured in American Rodder back in the early 90's. Wicked stuff back then. Shiny black and red wheels works on this one.

 

Not drivable in Chi town, Speed bump central.

 

Adren Scroggins of Reedley CA built its clone with yellow wheels and it is way ****ing low like that. I believe he used a 5" dropped tube axle with hairpins.

 

I just saw that car in a mag within the last year or two. Rod & Custom, I believe. It was actually built because after thirty years of trying to buy the other one mentioned, he gave up. I don't find that ride height impractical at all, and I pity those of you with out smooth roads. It's not on airbags or anything funky like that, and I'm pretty sure it's just traditional early Ford based suspension stuff.

Looks weird, way too low to drive anywhere around here unless it's adjustable.

 

Ruined a set of Skylark wires and too low profile front rubber.
But w/ diffrent wheel/tire combo its a *****en car. Mostly for the static uberlow stance.
I understand it must be unpractical in most places, but sure gains points in style dept.

 

I like it. Just ride behind it and you'll never have to worry about hitting debris in the road.

I do more then Look at my cars, They get driven. I think that was the point of them, right?
