No ,another boat is out of the question. Unless it was a Chris craft or Garwood. Sure love yours though.

I've liked WAY too many things over the years...cars, hot rods, antique toys, coins, guitars, guns, etc...but at this point of our lives, (in our 70s) we need to be realistic.

Bonnie and I have had a blessed life (financially and spiritually) and could/can afford anything we ever wanted, but there comes a time to plan for the "end".

I've already donated my (massive) antique toy collection to a famous Midwestern museum, all my automotive artwork donated to a local antique car museum and all of my unused hot rod parts of any value have been donated to friends who might actually use them.

We both decided that we want to be remembered for our generosity, rather than being remembered for just the stuff we accumulated.

It’s always been cars for me. A few motorcycles along the way. No boats, planes, sports, fishing, golf, none of that shit. My car interest pretty much stops at 1972, with just a very few exceptions. Before that, I like them all, especially the orphans. For the most part until a few years ago, I’ve had to sell one to fund the next build or purchase. And luckily, my bride of 50 years has given me free rein to feed my car addiction. But I’ve never put our financial well being in jeopardy to fund my passion. There are so many more cars I’d like to own, but know I never can. Doesn’t stop me from dreaming though.

Right now I have 2 cars that I really enjoy, my 49 chopped Buick which was a 30 year build, and a 56 Thunderbird, like the one I owned when I was 21. Now I am looking for another car, but I don't know what it will be. I don't have a bucket list. I need a project in my shop to keep me going, I just can't sit around or travel for more than 2 weeks. I have discovered at 75 if I stop moving it will be the end of me.

    Let’s see
Flintlocks, Colt and Smith .38s, Winchesters my 1932 Model 97 is my favorite, dad’s 1957 Model 12 is special, then there’s WII stuff, cars and trucks, ‘26 T, Shoebox, little Fairlane, 2F100s and a Willys CJ2 A.

    My budget is like zero.

Today before the matinee with my sweetheart, of all things I bought an open crown white fedora from the hat shop.
After I forked over the card, I put my old hat in the new hats bag, Karate Chopped my new hat’s crown, pinched the front, and bent the front of the brim down with a sinister rake.
I had my new hat shaped in like 5 seconds. The lady asked, “How long have you had hats? I said Ohh, a long time, since I was a kid.

I like everything, everything that’s cool.

I forgot my one other passion-music. I don’t play any instruments, unless you count a mean air guitar. But I’m one hell of a good listener. Blues is my favorite genre, Joe Bonamassa my favorite artist. I could listen to his music all day long and sometimes do. There are many other great blues artists out there too, but his style just speaks to me. In fact, my wife and I are going on a blues cruise next week to Alaska with Joe as the headliner. We’ve seen him 4 times before and he does 2 shows on the ship. Can’t wait!!!!

I probably shouldn’t talk about the parts, the parts I buy to build or make changes then don’t get used for cars I don’t even own yet. Could be part of the same problem , my tastes are eclectic as well.

I'm into many things, but my shorthand statement is cars-guns-motorcycles

I have been into oval track stuff since I was 4 years old (1965)...then I loved the street rod scene back in the 1970s...still like the old rusty stuff too (traditional type stuff mostly)...had several Willys Jeeps (flat fenders) too...several old air cooled VW's in the mix...
Current projects are a 1953 Morris Minor and 1967 Datsun truck...
My worse fear is not having something in the garage to bang on at night...

Yuppers ADHD at it's best right here...

And the problem is what ? Life would be boring if all a person could do is focus on one thing. The people I’ve met and became friends because of the mechanical stuff be it old hit and miss engines , cars and motorcycles has been icing on the cake for me .

    Hello,

In looking at the multitude of homes with huge garage compounds, it does remind me of the main choice my wife and I have always talked about. A house with a garage that would hold 5 separate cars in their own garage door spots. Yes, 5 cars… starting with a sporty Porsche car for open road cruising around. Then a cool Model A roadster for local coastal cruising as a possible daily driver. A two door Chevy station wagon with all of the goodies, including A/C.
upload_2025-10-12_3-49-30.png 396 motor bucket seats, 4 speed, etc
The last two openings would be taller door openings. A Ford Raptor pickup truck for necessities needed for our cruising around purposes, coastal, mountains, and deserts. Then finally, an old 1930 Ford Panel Truck base on a rolling chassis similar to off roading, camping build stuff.

    upload_2025-10-12_3-50-36.png
So, my wife would be taking the Porsche 911 old car for her daily drives, but also, the Raptor Truck for her gardening/landscaping needs as they appear. Or, 500 hp 32 Ford RPU Truck for her gardening needs is a lot of power, but over the years of yardwork, “the times they are a changing…” So, a constant trip to the local coastal nurseries to pick up a couple of plants or trees, etc. Trucks are good for that.

The old 1973 Porsche 911S body would have the all wheel drive chassis for total handling in any situations.

Mostly, those are my wife’s choices of cars and trucks. They also fit both of our needs for speed and comfort when the need arises. No giant warehouse loaded with cars just sitting. The 5 individual garages would be used, one fast hot rod or truck daily, garage door up and away we would go…

But, the problem with that nice list of vehicles is that where along the coast would have enough room to build such a compound. Yes, we have seen cars in multiple elevator garages and big warehouse style garages with the cars piled up all over the place. Those are not our style. Access at any time for any road trip calling us would be fine. The hold up would be cost and location.

Since we have gone through the quiet comfort of sailing a variety of boats, the final boat would be a large power boat with a side dock and easy access to the ocean coastline. Now, there is no place we could not reach for all of our needs. YRMV
