In a troubled time once I was told that when someone we care about dies, a piece of us goes with them, the person we mourn holds onto a piece of us. They are holding the empty part of us -the part of us that we have no words to describe. It is our job to fill this hole with the cherished things we loved together.

Know it or not, we are all here on Earth for each other. We need to be true to one another, if we hurt another, we hurt ourselves.

Bless you, you did the right thing reaching out to other HAMBers.

I have pastored churches for 25 years, and know there no words for this kind of loss. I hope your faith will sustain you, I hope your friends will know that their presence is far more powerful and healing than any "wisdom" that gets dispensed at times like this. I hope they will say Cody's name to you, to talk about him, and to keep the joy he will always bring you alive. I'm your age with a son Cody's age - I can hurt and pray for you, and would encourage you, when you are ready, to find a support group of parents who have walked the path you are on. God bless you.

    Hey..
I hear you pain my friend and my family wishes to send you our prayers and support.

My family has been there, I know the grief, the pain, the emptyness. None of this will go away but you will learn to live with it. I can tell you that your family needs each other, now more then ever. There is no greater pain then the loss of a child.

We all deal with such matters in our own way. My family created a web site with our story, We do an award at our daughters old high school in her memory. We do another award at a big rod run here in Maine also in her name/memory.. It does help

I am always around if need be.. PM or e-mail. Sometime it just helps to talk about things...

    Take care my friend

This brought tears to my eyes! I am very sorry for your loss. I could not even imagine what you and your family are going through. I have a four year old and that is the only thing that worries me, would be to loose her. Our prayers are with you and your family form the crew at Amocat Speed Emporium. Sorry again.

I'm very sorry for your lost and I feel your pain. I lost my daughter Darcie 3 years ago. I thought I would never get over her being gone but, time does heal the pain. There is never a day don't think of her. She is still very much alive in my heart. The worst pain in life is for
a parent to loss a child. My heart goes out to you and your family.

    Glenn,
My heart goes out to you and your family.
Reading about your loss made me reach out and call my son (20 in Feb) and my daughter 17 .It takes something like this to remind us to be so grateful for our children .We do all take it for granted that our children will out live us.God Bless ! PAUL

  18. R.I.P. Cody. I lost a lifelong friend a few months ago, it hurts. No matter how sad you are, you have friends who care, even strangers here in Texas. Hang in there.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Same thing happened to a family friend/employee of 20+ years, his son was killed in a car accident. We found out about it when we were at my Grandmother's funeral. That day truly sucked. I can't say how sorry I am, it really hits home. It's good to know you have so many friends at home and on the internet, we are always here if you need someone to talk to.

God bless you and your family.

  23. As a Dad to be come spring, this really hit home. Man, I have a sick feeling in my stomach. So sorry to hear this. Remember the good times, and be with your family.
    Again sorry to hear this.

The absolute worst thing that could ever happen to a parent, the loss of a child. I've got three teenaged kids, I think I'll give them a hug. I'm very sorry for you loss.

    Glenn and Family,
I’m deeply sorry for your loss. There aren’t any words a friend or a stranger can say to help ease your pain and the pain my never leave your heart but it will become numb over time and the filling of gratefulness will set in. Grateful to have been bless by God to have Cody be apart of your life, grateful for all the years, months, days, hours, minutes and every second you spent with him, whether it was good or bad, grateful just to have known him and have him as your son. You, your family, your friends and all whom knew your son are very lucky people who have been blessed to have Cody be apart of your lives.

My Prayers to you and yours.
    God Bless,
    Stina Marie

Your reality, My worst nightmare. :(

I have 2 boys, 6 yrs & 19 months old. I was a firefighter here and these calls always made us truly appreciate the time we do have. Sometimes after getting home in the wee hours after responding, I would hold my little guys, say a prayer and wipe a few tears.

Hold your family close, and if they complain that you're squeezing too tight, squeeze one more time for Cody.

  29. God be with you and your family at this time. I can't imagine your pain, but my prayers are with you.

    Glenn,
My heart sank when I read this, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
My best friend lost his 24 year old daughter just before Thanksgiving in a freak
accident. She was crossing a one way street at 2am, when she was struck
by a guy backing up. No drinks or drugs, just bad timing. Everyone tell your
kids you love them, you never know.
My heart goes out to your family, and just know that the HAMB family is there for you.
    Rest in Peace Cody.
