    I OWN a 57 Chevy, and still LOVE to see these! In fact, there's a couple on here i'd like to have myself to keep my Chevy company.
    Like the black one in the first post by Deuce Roadster..........
    What a PERFECT example of a 57 Ford sleeper!

    Keep 'em coming!

    As per the link posted earlier 1957ford.com: "This is what all little Y-BLOCKS want to be when they grow-up. "312 SUPERCHARGED 300 HP" Looks similar anyway. :D In the gallery on the 4th page.

    **Edit** Looks like ModelAhotrod beat me to it.... :)
    That appears to be the rare factory supercharged 312 Y-block option, also available in the T-birds, I believe.
    You may be able to find more info here:

    and here:

    The '57 and '58 Ford Custom and Custom 300 models were the shorter wheelbase and shorter bodied models. So, yes, those are shorter than the '59s.
    The '57 and '58 Fairlane and Fairlane 500 models were the longer wheelbase and longer bodied models. The quarter panels on the Fairlanes are quite long.

    To give you some #'s for your 57 to 59 size differences;
    57 Custom
    116" wheel base
    210.7" long
    57,2" high

    57 Wagons
    116" wheel base
    203.5" long
    58.7" high

    57 Hardtops
    118" wheel base
    207.1" long
    56.5" high

    Just for reference;
    57 Chevy
    115" wheel base
    200" long
    60.4" high

    Not counting Thunderbirds, Ford had 24 different models that year. Pretty amazing compared to Brand X, or even the 1956 model year. If only the headlites didn't rot out of most of them by 1958..heh,heh.

  18. What about the white pearl? My grandfather worked on this car back when it was new. His friend eventually sold it to Gene Pitney. I've got pics of this car at Frank Marratta's in 58 and 59[IMG]

    Are you sure about this? You listed the Custom (210.7") as being longer, overall, than the Fairlane (207.1").

    I love this car, but that van contintental kit trim ring sticks out like a sore thumb. That really hurts the car's look IMHO. This obviously wasn't a cheap build, why skimp on something like that?

    The Blue&White 57 Custom had a 3 speed o/d,9",with 4.11 gears. The story I got this was a Little ole Lady car from Ill.Was orginally a Custom, not a Custom 300.She didn't care for the 2 tone without the Custom 300 trim,so had the dealer install.Car was low milage, and all orginal do***ents came with the car.......Asking price 57K,had I had the 57K it was on it's way back to Texas

    My friend John Gambill of 1957ford.com owned and built this car from an original 6 cyl 3 speed 14000 mile car. John built the 312 Y with all OEM parts, but used the new MSD distrib for the Y, plus converted over to C4 ******. Car would go. John just joined here not long before I did, goes by jegsr...John sold this car to Tom Kitchen in Florida. Look John up and ask him what he did to it.

    Just a couple of questions. I recently purchased a Fairlane 2 door hardtop and would like to change the side trim to Fairlane 500. Is that possible? And, if so, where can I get a nice set of the trim?

    This 57 300 series 2 door ( no back seat ... from the factory ) just closed out on that famous auction site @ $22,500 and did not sell :(

    I quit at around 20 grand ...
    I want a 57 Ford 300 2 door post ... but 22 and a half for one with a Y-block is kind of crazy ...
    and that was not enough :rolleyes:
