I grab my filters 3 at a time from Summit, usually to round out an order to get the free shipping... best selection ever. I use a Wix XP n my SBC, always opt for one a little longer over stock. Moroso has a nice filter too.

I made the same improvement to the 312 Thunderbird Special Y block in my 56 Victoria 45 years ago (before I replaced it with a 351 Cleveland). The thin steel baffle plate had cracked, allowing the oil to drain back into the oil pan. Each time I started the engine, there was 0 oil pressure for a few seconds. You may want to obtain a new baffle to install with the special oil filter spin-on adapter spud. Use an impact wrench with a 6 point socket and it will come right off. I know Y blocks have come back in favor but my Vicky ran a whole lot better with the Cleveland and it looked like it belonged there with the factory air cleaner.

I use Motorcraft FL1A filters on all my Fords.

  4. Two days ago, I cut open a purolator boss, that's an impressive oil filter.

I just spun a new WIX onto a fresh Packard rebuildyesterday, AND I slept good about it last night. FRAM should have revised their schtick; "You'll pay me now...and later!"
