So if the two cars were stolen, what dollar amount would it take to replace the two. How much money would it take to recreate the pickup, with a nailhead. This is what I go off of for my insurance.
please dont paint it flat black. he didnt want it flat black or it still would be. use the spare parts and build another one. paint it what ever color you want. thats a survivor. you will never get that back.
State law says you must have liability insurance of a minimum amount prescribed by them to cover the potential damage you may cause to other vehicles, other people. The law doesn't care a wit about any comprehensive insurance coverage you have to pay for damage to yours. Comprehensive is like a gunfight in Vegas. You're betting you will need it someday and the insurance company/agent is betting that you will pay but never need it. Your agenda is to pay the least for the best service and the company's agenda is to get the most but pay the least. It's a game of cross-purposes and the more you understand the game and have your eyes open, the better your chances. You can dial in your comfort level (somewhat) by choosing from the menu of offerings and/or by shopping different insurance companies who may have better rates or other options. One big point to remember is if some other insured driver damages your vehicle, you're going to have to fight with their insurance co for what they claim is the value. What amounts and values you have it covered at matters zilch to them.
If you are insuring for "agreed value" I would figure what price it would cost to have the truck rebuilt from scratch today... do you think a builder could recreate that truck for $25k? Chappy
If you repaint I think I'd have to cut my $10,000 value in half. I think the value in that old truck is the paint with pinstriping, and the engine.
I have my car insured at $25k, this is what I have laid out in cash for it. Like I said earlier, they wanted a bunch of pictures before they'd write the policy. The agent gave me some crap about the car being in primer, she called it an unfinished car.
My Old Cars Report Price guide from 2 years ago states a value of $3760 in #4 condition, basically a driver needing restoration to be excellent.
