so in the parts boxes that came with my truck I found this rearview mirror it is not like any other clock mirror I have seen. the clock rests behind the mirror glass and there are spaces in the glass that are not plated so that clock face will show through. It came with the 36 pickup I have but I dont think thats where it came from. I cant seem to find any information on clocks like this the mirror plating is wearing off but I really want to use this when the time comes because i just think its really cool any information would help a lot.
I've never seen one like yours. I'm pretty sure that most of them were aftermaket accessories. Mine was still in the box when I found it at a flea market. NOS and it still keeps time. Of course it needs to be wound and set every time I take the truck out. I love mine. I'd get a watch maker to look at it. It might be pricey but it would be worth it to me.
so i was able to read the manufacturer on the back of the clock it was made by new haven clock company but all i can find on google are ones with the dial like yours Tommy
sorry to bring this up again but Im finally starting to try and get the ball rolling on getting it restored. Im looking for any information about people who can repair these old pull string clocks. Also looking for anyone who knows how to re-plate the mirror but leave the "windows" open. can you just tape them off or what? Has anyone else from the hamb had their mirror clock restored and who did it? a local watchmaker has told me he can't or doesn't want to try and restore it.
