I was wondering if there are some over the counter shocks that I coud use on my car.I need them for front and rear.I'm trying to save money where ever I can,but be safe at the same time.Maybe someone has some advise or possibly some part numbers.

Monroe has an application guide that shows what ends, compressed and extended length. I have found it very helpful in choosing the right shocks. I think I ended up with 80s riveria and dodge caravan on the phantom rpu but I don't remember which end is which. I found some new old stock Gabriels off ebay for real cheap.

There are online catalogs that you can download - you need to know what end style and min/max length you need to find a part number.

I used a shock for a 66-70's SAAB. 5/8" eye on both ends, ~9" compressed, ~14" extended on my Model A. They were about $15 each. Got them from Autozone.

I have an old <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:p</st1:City> guide that I use to match up shocks. First I measure the ride height of the mounts and determine the shock ends that I need. The guide will give you the compressed length and the extended length and the type of ends. Cross reference the number to the type of cars that shock will fit and you know what to go ask for at your parts dealer.

I haven't made any mounts yet,Iwas hoping to get the shock first and go from there. It sounds like those shocks that WILDFIRE mention would be a good place to start. Thanks everyone for the advise once again.
