The picture is of an Edelbrock carb. A PO zip tied the linkage so its running all 4 barrels all day. And the linkage goes into what I ***ume is the electric choke? It has a wire going to the starter relay, its missing a ground wire. I dont know anything about carbs, but I was going to cut the zip tie and hook up a ground wire and just see what happened. What should I be looking for to know if its working?
I think the tie wrap is just there to keep the choke open ,Thats all ....Hooking up a ground and see if the choke opens when you start ,,,,,
Just the choke, nothing to do with the secondaries. It won't work with the +12v going to the starter relay/solenoid or anyhing else to do with the start circuitry. It wants +12v when the key is 'on' and the ground connected.
He wired tied open the choke to eliminate the secondary lock-out. Cut the wire tie, run a ground to the choke cover and make sure there is power to the choke with the ignition "on". The index mark on the black cover needs to aligned with the 3rd knotch from the center CCW. The choke will now (should) work properly. You will need a torx bit for the cover (three screws). I would also replace the cracked vacuum hose on the front of the carb.
anytime I see a bolt stuck in a vacuum line I worry, kinda like a wad of black tape under the dash. Just an observation, your question has been answered in previous posts
I have also found the black tape under the dash. I find all kinds of fun little things from the previous owner. \ Thanks for the replies. Lets see if I can get it going.
