Technical I need some help to ID some early ford bumper brackets

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1933_willys_77, Apr 18, 2021.

  1. I have this bumper with brackets and I'm trying to identify what it may have come off of. I cleaned and found that the brackets have the Ford logo on them. Its very faint and they disappeared after a very light coat of primer. The only other markings I found were an R and a L on the top side. Please see photos, any help is appreciated. 20210418_211533.jpg 20210418_211632.jpg 20210418_211235.jpg 20210418_211309.jpg 20210418_211218.jpg 20210418_211437.jpg

Try the earlyV8 forum on FordBarn.

  7. I was hoping someone on here and also the FordBarn both might know. I know a lot of guys on here are on both. I didn't really want to sign up for another forum just to ask one question. If I can't get it done here I'll look into signing up over there.

  8. Damn, I was hoping it was the ultra rare 1932 model Q, but humor is always welcome

This has became the "Stump the HAMB identification of the century". It really bothers me that someone here does not know.

Turn the bumper 90 degrees and post that picture.

Maybe 1926-1927 Model T Rear brackets. Ford offered them as an accessory, full length and short bumperettes. Bob

Yeah, let's see what the bumper looks like. Much easier to ID a bumper rather than it's brackets.

  14. I'll try and dig it out tomorrow when I get into the shop and take a few more pictures. The bumper is bent out on the sides but I'll post them as soon as I get a chance. It's a pretty plain bar. Thanks guys

:( So far there were 146 views on Ford Barn but not even one guess.

Well @1933_willys_77 it looks like you have stumped the HAMB and FB too. Try and get that picture up, hopefully that will help.

  16. I ended up busy yesterday and then I went to Jefferson for the swap meet today. I'll make a point of going in the shop tomorrow for sure

@Fordors So this is the bumper. Was chrome. Its basically flat and about 2" tall by approximately 62"s long overall. Its approximately 38 1/2" center to center for the two mounting holes and it has eyebolts in the ends.

Looks like a Model A bar, but Ford never had a mounting hole in one.

  19. The holes are round so i guess its possible that someone drilled them into the bar. To be honest I'm more interested in the brackets than i am in the bar. I would love to find another pair of the mounting brackets

I knew that question was some where, thanks! That is a 34-35 Ford one ton truck bumper, later years may have changed a bit. Photo was taken two weeks ago at the CSRA Swap Meet. Bob
