I need some old school antitheft tips

I remember when I was a kid, my dad had a 40 coupe that had his own anti-theft. If the cigarette lighter was pushed in it wouldnt start, pull it out it fired right up. He always told me he hoped the battery was dead before they figured it out. I always thought that was the coolest thing.
