dont tell them YOU rolled it out, just say it was left there and you dont want it in front of your house. its a real simple process actually. just pull it out like someone left it there, tell them its been there for a weeki belive it has to be 72 hours for an abandoned vehicle to be called one. so tell em at least that

  4. I grew up in Port Hueneme!!! The cops there suck! Drag it to the street and let them have some excitement for a minute.

  6. They only dream of becomming Oxnard cops one day. Good luck with getting rid of the car. Take it down to the end of Perkins road and leave it. It will be gone the next day.

if i had a trailer i would... i think ill just drag it to his house (next block over) and let him deal with it

  8. hook a chain to it and drag it down the street and leave it in a grocery store parking lot.

Don't want to hijack the thread but since the original question seems to have been answered a couple of times...I have a car...that died on me off 101 between Ventura and La Conchita...it belongs to me...how do I get rid of it without it costing me a bundle? I mean hey, its a $300 car, if that, and I don't want it to cost me anything really...i thought about torching it or rolling it into a ditch and reporting it stolen but that just seemed wrong. In my native Maine the nearest yard would come get it for free, without title even, just for scrap. Cali is a bit different and no tow yards in the area want it...For now I just left it there and keep calling CHP to see if it has been towed, so far its still there 5 days later...Anyway, anyone got any tips?

take the vin tags and the plates off and leave it.... or just leave it... youll get a letter saying that it was inpounded and you can pay x amount to get it out or you can buy it back at auction.... and do neither.... this happened to us when a cb got shipped off and left the mustang that we sold him behind. i guess we were the last registered owners because he forgot to re register it.

Didn't read all 3 pages, but if it was a Nissan 240 like you said you could have made some $$$. Especially if it was a stick car. The import "drifter" guys are gobbling those POS's faster than they can count their cash. They also don't care if it has a title since it will be a track (refuse to say "race") car. Oh well, maybe next time.

in IL you can get a "salvage title" for like $10 that will allow a car to be sold for parts (or crushed)

  20. File a lien on it for storage. Your friend will have a certain amount of time to respond. If no response this is taken to mean he is relinquishing interest in the car. Ownership will pass to your grandfather and then he can sell it or scrap it.

Simple and legal and protects you as well and everybody stays nice and calm. It's a nuisance but in life shit happens.

After you have done this a few hundred times it becomes routine.
